Wrestlemania 35 is less than two weeks. One of the biggest matches of the event is the Universal Championship bout between the Champion Brock Lesnar and the winner of the 2019 Men's Royal Rumble, Seth Rollins.
Ever since winning the Universal title back at Crown Jewel in 2018, Brock Lesnar has continued his usual routine of not making regular appearances and title defenses. Lesnar has only had one title defense so far since Crown Jewel - against Finn Balor at Royal Rumble. So logically, a WWE fan would think that after all the efforts Rollins took throughout 2018, he would finally get rewarded and would slay the Beast at Wrestlemania 35, bringing the Universal title back home. However, certain signs say otherwise.
In this thread, we will take a look at three signs that suggest Brock Lesnar will retain the Big Red belt at Wrestlemania 35.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
#3. The lack of interactions
Seth Rollins won the Royal Rumble match on January 27 this year. It has been more than two months since Rollins became the number 1 contender for the Universal title. However, in these two months, Rollins had only two interactions with the biggest challenge of his life - one on the RAW after Royal Rumble, where Lesnar laid waste to Rollins with six colossal F5s, and the other on the RAW two weeks ago.
When WWE planned Roman Reigns to dethrone the beast at both Wrestlemania 34 and Summerslam 2018 last year, they had numerous altercations with each other. The Big Dog and the Beast had exchanged a lot of vicious beatdowns in the weeks leading up to their big clash.
However, this year, that is not the case.
#2. Failure to build Rollins up
Usually, WWE uses the two months between Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania to build the Royal Rumble winner up. This step is even more valid when the Royal Rumble winner has to face someone as huge as Brock Lesnar.
In 2015, Roman Reigns won the Royal Rumble to gain the rights to challenge Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 31. However, WWE had to build the Big Dog as a credible challenger to the Beast. What did WWE do then? They pitted Reigns against Daniel Bryan - the most over babyface who was incredibly protected at that time - at Fastlane 2015.
Reigns defeated Bryan clean and even kicked out of the Running Knee. After that match, Reigns looked like a proper challenge to Lesnar.
However, this time, WWE took no such measures. At Elimination Chamber, Rollins had no role, and at Fastlane, Rollins became a side character in the Shield attire.
#1. The main event
Even though Brock Lesnar's title reign has been boring for the fans, WWE views it as something humongous. Thus WWE may not want the Universal title to change hands on any other instances than the main event.
Since WWE has already announced that the main event of Wrestlemania 35 would be the RAW Women's championship match between the Champion Ronda Rousey, Smackdown LIVE Women's champion Charlotte Flair, and the 2019 Women's Royal Rumble winner Becky Lynch, the Universal Title match will be pushed down the card.
Thus WWE may be reluctant to put Seth Rollins over Brock Lesnar at the Showcase of the Immortals.
The points mentioned above are solidified even more with the latest rumors surrounding Brock Lesnar and his appearance at the WWE event in Saudi Arabia later this year. Putting all pieces of the puzzle together, we should not be surprised if the Beast pins the Architect clean at Wrestlemania 35.
