3 steps to making Drew McIntyre the WWE Universal Champion

There's a new Champion on the block
There's a new Champion on the block

Love him or hate him, Drew McIntyre will continue his destruction of the faces on RAW week after week to ensure that his dominance on the main roster remains even when others are finding it difficult to stay relevant to the WWE creative.

McIntyre’s return to Raw has been nothing short of a blockbuster, and he is now ready to hit the home run to win a single’s championship sooner than later so his story on Raw can continue without him becoming irrelevant.

WWE made big mistakes with Braun Strowman by not awarding him championship matches early enough, and then giving him title matches which were extremely underwhelming, making a joke of The Monster Among Men.

They made him win the Money in the Bank contract to deserve a championship shot, which made his entire gimmick a disaster, and since then he has just been running around in search of opponents, and this has not worked out for him.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

McIntyre’s storyline has been much better, but the WWE needs to ensure that the villainous character gets his title shots soon, so he can establish himself as one of the top performers of the red brand.

Being a larger superstar and a skilled in-ring athlete has surely helped him shine brighter than the rest, while his equal Bobby Lashley has been running a rather stale and boring gimmick which won’t even get him an Intercontinental Championship shot.

With that said, the creative should work smartly to book The Scottish Psychopath in a title match in which it seems like he deserves the shot more than any other superstar, and not getting an unnecessary push. Here are three steps the creative can follow to ensure that McIntyre becomes the Universal Champion convincingly.

#3 Have him injure Braun Strowman

Braun Strowman is advertised to make an appearance at the upcoming episode of Raw. After being taken out and getting severely injured on television by the team of Bobby Lashley, Drew McIntyre, and Baron Corbin, Strowman underwent a legitimate elbow surgery.

Strowman will most likely return to confirm that he will indeed face Baron Corbin at TLC 2018 no matter what, and lay waste to the General Manager Elect to get his ticket to a Universal Championship match against Brock Lesnar at Royal Rumble 2019.

This will be the best time for the villainous McIntyre to establish himself as the biggest heel in WWE, as he should once again dismantle The Monster Among Men.

After attacking Strowman and further injuring his elbow on television, McIntyre could stand tall with Corbin, and declare that he has ensured that Strowman will not be able to make his way to TLC, and thus confirming the inevitable - Baron Corbin becoming the Permanent General Manager of Raw.

#2 Have Baron Corbin’s TLC challenge answered

Baron Corbin would still come out at TLC 2018 waiting for The Monster Among Men to somehow show up for the match so he can defeat him and confirm his status as the General Manager of Raw.

After Strowman doesn’t show up due to his injury, Corbin could make fun of him and even invite the other two faces of Raw, Finn Balor and Elias, to take his place in the match so he can prove he is the better wrestler.

Once he is done and about to leave, McIntyre’s music hits and The Scottish Psychopath emerges to answer Corbin’s challenge. The shocked GM-Elect should be defeated in a matter of minutes just like he was by Finn Balor at SummerSlam 2018.

After laying waste to Baron Corbin, McIntyre could announce that now he too will be a part of the match at Royal Rumble, making the match between himself, Braun Strowman, and Brock Lesnar.

#1 Emerge victorious

At Royal Rumble 2019, the three biggest men on RAW should collide for the biggest prize on the brand, and give the fans a real treat of a match.

Even though many fans are hoping and expecting McIntyre to win the Royal Rumble to get an opportunity to win the title, he is already over enough to deserve a title shot without the need of any Royal Rumble or Money in the Bank victory.

By that time Braun Strowman should have healed from his current injuries, McIntyre would have established himself as an even bigger heel by taking out more faces and even heels on the main roster.

The match should award a clean victory to Drew McIntyre, which would establish him as the biggest villain on RAW, taking the title away from Brock Lesnar.

Drew McIntyre is a hard-working championship material wrestler who has come out week after week to make an impact, and should be rewarded for his efforts before his storyline becomes stale.
