#4 Nix: Knocking on Aleister Black's door
Why does WWE do this?
Why do they take a Superstar that was otherwise extremely popular in NXT, put them on the main roster and saddle them with a meaningless gimmick? This doesn't mean WWE isn't capable of doing the opposite and hasn't done something amazing with NXT talent in the past, but that isn't the case with Aleister Black.
Unfortunately for Black, he has been relegated to an Edgar Allen Poe-type character, who repeatedly begs other Superstars to knock on his door. Although the symbolism is definitely there and the segments do have some very appealing aspects, it is ultimately very one note and a far cry from what the character could be.
Think about it this way - WWE can only have Superstars knock on Black's door so many times before the segment gets old and thus don't have a lot to work with. They also don't seem to be doing anything of note with him past these segments right now, which begs the question of why they aren't using him better?
In the end, Black is so much more than just a one note character and WWE needs to work to flesh him out more. Not just as a man looking for a fight with anyone who dares knock at his door, but as the anti-hero he was always meant to be.
