WrestleMania is the biggest stage in the WWE and the WWE leaves no stones unturned to make sure that the event creates some lasting impact on the viewers. One of the focal point of WrestleMania has been the return of superstars throughout the years.
As we close in on this year's WrestleMania, we begin receiving hints of the impending return of superstars. While last year's WrestleMania bore witness to the in ring return of Daniel Bryan, WrestleMania 33 witnessed the Hardys making a comeback. Going by the trend and the rumours around the place, it is evident that everyone of us would think about returning superstars.
We do have a steady line up for the upcoming event. However, that does not mean we are out of expectations. While Batista has already been slated for a match against Triple H, it does not spell the end of possibilities. As we have seen, WrestleMania is notorious for unexpected returns. Not only is WrestleMania one of the events that mark the end of eras, and new beginnings, it is also one of those stages where receive a lot of surprises.
While the stage has already been set, there is still room for more. To say room for more, we can still see that the challenger for Daniel Bryan's WWE Championship still hasn't been finalized. Now while we can all predict that WWE would ultimately put Kofi Kingston in the picture, it is still something that is yet to happen. However, this still leaves room for more of what can be done.
For example, something unexpected might happen in that match too. Also, we haven't heard anything about the Undertaker's position in the event. Although we have all been led to believe that the WWE would finally give some rest to the one of the greatest of all time, he has returned time and again. While it is best to finally let the Phenom rest with his legacy, we can never be sure with WWE.
With that being said, we can always consider unexpected things to happen at WrestleMania. Let us take a look at 3 superstars that might make a return to WWE at the Grandest Stage of Them All.
#3 Luke Harper
The big man has been missing for quite a while from the WWE. While one half of the Bludgeon Brothers, Rowan has returned, we are still yet to see Luke Harper's in-ring return. Luke Harper has been out of action ever since he suffered a wrist injury and he is speculated to return soon.
Although there have been no official announcements made by the WWE, we would not be wrong to expect his return soon. Daniel Bryan will definitely be defending his Championship at WrestleMania and it would be most probably Kofi Kingston as the challenger. Needless to say, he would have Rowan at his ringside.
However, they are still outnumbered by the New Day if they are at ringside during the match. The sudden appearance of Luke Harper would not only even the odds, but would also act as a distraction. In such a case, it would not be wrong for the WWE to bring back Luke Harper. Given the past history of the Bludgeon Brothers against the New Day, it would stir up quite a long time feud between the two stables.
#2 Dolph Ziggler
The Showoff has been absent for quite a while. While the reason he took a hiatus was the tour that he had scheduled for the time being, it is quite possible that the WWE might consider bringing him back now. The fact of the matter is, Dolph Ziggler is still signed to WWE and his return depends on the time the WWE decides to bring him back.
Like Harper, Dolph can work towards evening the odds as well. Considering the fact that Seth Rollins isn't exactly Drew McIntyre's favourite person, it is quite possible that he would play a vital role during the Universal Championship match.
Although we might think that Reigns might be there to take care of Drew in case such a scenario happens, we must remember that Drew McIntyre also has alliances with Baron Corbin and Bobby Lashley. In such a case, the sudden appearance of Dolph Ziggler could get the crowd up on its feet.
#1 John Cena
While people are speculating about John Cena status for WrestleMania, the WWE has not really given out any hints about his return or the opponents he might face. However, it would be naive to believe that John Cena would be left out of WrestleMania.
John Cena might not be as active as he used to be on the roster but that does not diminish his credibility by any means. John Cena is just too big of a star to not have any presence at the Grandest Stage of Them All. While he might not be actively involved in any match, the WWE would definitely pull out all stops to keep him in any capacity.
Given Cena's star power, he can always light up a crowd and in this situation, the WWE definitely needs to keep the light of excitement burning. It is quite possible that John Cena would make appearances before the event itself in the coming weeks, but it would be best to keep him waiting for the ultimate event.
