Now, every once in a while, one of these little pieces of trivia comes up that you'll just never hear on television. Many promotions tend to no-sell championship achievements and sometimes full careers outside of their own company, to avoid giving credit to said promotion for building a Superstar and just to avoid giving them publicity and essentially boosting competition - but of course it's the case that most wrestlers have worked for more than one company.
Winning gold in several? Well, that's a completely different question altogether. For obvious reasons, no-one who has competed in WWE, ROH, NJPW or Impact has won a title in AEW - but there are three men who have won gold in the other four promotions. While this may not seem like a huge feat at face value, and you may think some answers are obvious - like Samoa Joe, Hulk Hogan etc, you quickly realise that you may have completely forgot about one promotion.
I implore you, try have a little guess before clicking through to the next slide - because while AJ Styles is a very obvious answer, the other two will definitely surprise you!
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
#3 AJ Styles
Of course we have to start with AJ Styles. He's undoubtedly the least surprising name on the list.
Now, AJ is now well versed in WWE title winning - holding both the WWE Championship and the WWE United States Championship on multiple occasions apiece, but there was one point where even Styles wrestling in a WWE ring seemed unlikely, but that doesn't mean he wasn't winning gold elsewhere.
The Phenomenal One's stats read as follows:
WWE:
- WWE Champion (2 times)
- WWE United States Champion (3 times)
Impact Wrestling:
- NWA World Heavyweight Championship (3 times)
- NWA World Tag Team Championship (4 times)
- TNA Legends/Global/Television Championship (2 times)
- TNA World Heavyweight Championship (2 times)
- TNA World Tag Team Championship (2 times)
- TNA X Division Championship (6 times)
- First TNA Triple Crown Champion (5 times)
- First TNA Grand Slam Champion (2 times)
NJPW:
- IWGP Heavyweight Championship (2 times)
Ring of Honor:
- ROH Pure Championship (1 time)
- ROH World Tag Team Championship (1 time)
#2 Bully Ray
Now, Bully Ray may be a bit of a curveball for some, or he may be obvious for others - depending on how well versed you are with wrestling outwith WWE, and how close to the forefront of your mind tag team wrestling is.
But it's not only tag team gold that the former ECW man has won. Bubba Ray Dudley is the second man on our very elite list!
WWE:
- WWF/E Hardcore Championship (10 times)
- WWF/World Tag Team Championship (8 times)
- WWE Tag Team Championship (1 time)
- WCW Tag Team Championship (1 time)
Impact Wrestling:
- NWA World Tag Team Championship (1 time)
- TNA World Heavyweight Championship (2 times)
- TNA World Tag Team Championship (2 times)
NJPW:
- IWGP Tag Team Championship (2 times)
Ring of Honor:
- ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship (1 time)
#1 Mike Kanellis
Now, this one may come as a shock to most people, not least because his WWE Championship run lasted for less than one episode of RAW. By virtue of this, Mike Kanellis also holds the, perhaps unwanted, distinction of being the only Superstar on the list to have lost a championship to their wife.
Before he was Mike Kanellis, though, Mike Bennett was a pretty big deal - and it only took his Monday night win to propel him to first place on this list.
WWE:
- WWE 24/7 Championship (1 time)
Impact Wrestling:
- TNA X Division Championship (1 time)
NJPW:
- IWGP Tag Team Championship (1 time)
Ring of Honor:
- ROH World Tag Team Championship (1 time)
