The most dominant superstar in the history of NXT, the Empress of Tomorrow had an incredible winning streak in the developmental brand, capturing the NXT Women's Championship in early 2016, and only surrendered the title when she had no other opponents and decided to move to the main roster.

On RAW, Asuka continued her winning ways, carrying on her undefeated streak until suffering defeat at the hands of Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 34.

Joining SmackDown Live earlier this year, Asuka had a hot start to her new brand, entering a championship feud with Carmella but was unsuccessful.

Many fans have felt that Asuka has been misused since joining SmackDown Live, and a sudden title victory could reassert the dominance of the Empress.

A possible heel turn could add a new depth to Asuka, who is no stranger to dismantling her opponents.
