WWE's Stomping Grounds PPV comes to us at a critical time for WWE, when the product is at its lowest and needs to make changes quickly to counter new competition in AEW.

WWE is currently in a transitional phase, with several new Superstars getting into their stride, while WWE is also preparing itself for SmackDown's move over to Fox.
Stomping Grounds is a 'B' PPV which is a bridge to the bigger PPVs that are set to come in the near future, most notably SummerSlam. But this is an important PPV in helping push or bury Superstars so as to make way for new feuds or new Superstars enter the WWE.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Let's take a look at 3 Superstars who will be buried & 2 who will be pushed at Stomping Grounds:
#5 Baron Corbin - Buried
Baron Corbin will get another chance to face off against Seth Rollins at Stomping Grounds for the Universal title, with the prospect of Brock Lesnar cashing in his Money in the Bank contract looming large over the match.
Corbin, it seems, is just a filler in his feud with Rollins, as WWE seem to want the Universal champion to eventually face Lesnar at a big PPV, and the possibility of Lesnar winning the title from Rollins over Corbin is much greater.

At Stomping Grounds, I feel that Corbin will lose in no time and we could see Lesnar once again tease a cash-in, but not actually cash-in. From the past we've learnt that The Beast will only wrestle in big PPVs, so I expect him to cash-in his contract at a PPV like SummerSlam rather than Stomping Grounds.
#4 Ricochet - Pushed
Ricochet has been on a roll since making his move over to the main roster, and has perhaps had the best run among the new NXT call-ups over the last few months.
He was initially a part of a tag team with Aleister Black, who put on fantastic matches, but following Black's move to SmackDown, the tag team broke up and Ricochet has since been a singles star.
Ricochet and Cesaro have been in a feud recently and put on some great matches, and he then won a fatal five-way elimination match on RAW to face Samoe Joe for the United States title.
I feel that Ricochet could win the title off Joe at Stomping Grounds and have a great feud with Joe over the next few weeks. WWE seem to be high on Ricochet and could give him a massive push over the next few months, starting at Stomping Grounds.
#3 Heavy Machinery - Buried
Heavy Machinery have been good comic relief on WWE television since being called up, but the tag team are serious wrestlers, who can put on a good show in the ring.
At Stomping Grounds, they face off against former WWE Champion Daniel Bryan and his tag team partner Rowan for the SmackDown Tag Team titles. The tag team division on both RAW and SmackDown has been rather dull over the last few months, despite both brands having quality tag team wrestlers.
It seems like WWE do not want to give tag team wrestling the importance it deserves.
I feel that Heavy Machinery are going to be mid-card jobbers and they will most likely lose their match at Stomping Grounds against Bryan and Rowan. WWE possibly see Bryan and Rowan keeping the titles for quite some time before they are defeated.
#2 Lacey Evans - Pushed
A few months ago, there were reports that WWE and Vince McMahon were impressed with Lacey Evans and that she was going to get a huge push in WWE, and that has exactly what has happened!
Evans is in a feud with Becky Lynch for the RAW Women's title and has come out of nowhere to feud for the top women's title. The RAW Women's division has been rather stale since WrestleMania 35 and the exit of Ronda Rousey from WWE.
Lynch does not seem to have too many exciting feuds on RAW, and despite the feud with Evans being rather stale, WWE seem to want to push her.
I don't see Lynch losing the match, but WWE could, in some way, put Evans over by maybe having some outside interference and distraction that helps Lynch win.
#1 Dolph Ziggler - Buried
Dolph Ziggler will face Kofi Kingston for the WWE Championship at Stomping Grounds. Ziggler came out of nowhere and returned to the WWE to attack Kingston and set-up a feud which resulted in a match at Super ShowDown.
Ziggler will get anothre chance at the WWE Championship at Stomping Grounds, this time inside a steel cage. The feud between Ziggler and Kingston hasn't been very great, and nowhere near as good as the feud between Daniel Bryan and Kofi Kingston.
I have a feeling that Ziggler, like Baron Corbin, is just a stop-gap Superstar in the feud and that there may be a bigger feud in line for Kingston on SmackDown. I don't think Ziggler has any chance of winning the title, and, in fact, I feel that the match will not last long as well.
WWE have teased a Brock Lesnar cash-in on Kingston, which, actually, seems like a much more interesting feud than a Lesnar-Rollins feud at the moment.
