Rey Mysterio made a successful return to the company's blue brand after defeating United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura on SmackDown 1000 and booked a place in the WWE World Cup

The master of 619 returned to singles action after a long time on the blue brand

Last night marked the first occasion in a long time that Rey Mysterio appeared on WWE TV. Though he was a part of the Royal Rumble and the Greatest Royal Rumble matches earlier this year, Mysterio was absent from the weekly TV shows.

6 years ago on RAW 1000, Mysterio took part in a six-man tag team match where his team, comprising Sheamus and Sin Cara, was victorious over the trio of Del Rio, Ziggler and Jericho.

On SmackDown 1000, the Mexican Superstar battled the King of Strong Style, Shinsuke Nakamura for a place in the first ever WWE World Cup. The duo put on an exciting match which kept the fans on the edge of their seats. Rey sealed his place in the World Cup by defeating the United States Champion.
