WWE is heading towards SummerSlam 2024, but CM Punk has yet to be medically cleared to compete in the squared circle. The former AEW star tore his triceps during the Royal Rumble match earlier this year at the hands of Drew McIntyre. Since then the two have been feuding and last week on RAW, The Best in the World asked Adam Pearce for a match against McIntyre and wanted the RAW General Manager to lift his suspension.
However, this week, The Scottish Warrior returned to RAW and expressed his desire to face the Chicago native. However, when Pearce asked him to apologize to the referees for his actions at the Money in the Bank post-show, the Scotsman refused, which led to Punk vs. McIntyre not being made official.
With The Voice of the Voiceless not yet declared cleared for SummerSlam 2024, this article will explore three things that could happen if this scenario, unfortunately, materializes true.
Corey Graves deleted his Tweet! More details HERE.
#3. Drew McIntyre vs. Seth Rollins might take place at SummerSlam 2024
If CM Punk fails to get medically cleared for The Biggest Party of The Summer, this could result in a singles match between McIntyre and Rollins. The Visionary even confronted The Scottish Warrior on RAW when Drew tried to manhandle Adam Pearce after rejecting his apology request.
McIntyre, Seth, and Punk have all been involved in a triangle since earlier this year, however, Rollins re-entered the feud following Money in the Bank 2024. This heightens the chances that fans will witness a match between the two former World Heavyweight Champions at SummerSlam 2024 if The Best in the World does not get medically cleared.
#2. CM Punk could be part of Drew vs. Seth potential SummerSlam match in a non-wrestling role
If WWE sets up a showdown between The Scottish Warrior and The Visionary for SummerSlam 2024, fans might see CM Punk involved in the match, but in a non-wrestling capacity. The Voice of the Voiceless could either be a special guest referee or take on the role of a special commentator for this match just like he did at WrestleMania XL.
The Straight Edge Superstar could also replicate the twist he pulled at Clash at the Castle 2024, where he arrived as a referee mid-match after the official was struck down. This angle would allow WWE to incorporate Punk into the vendetta despite him not officially wrestling against Drew at SummerSlam.
#1. A match between Punk and McIntyre could take place at Bad Blood 2024
After SummerSlam 2024, Bad Blood 2024 will be the next premium live event of the Stamford-based promotion.
For those who might not know, Bad Blood 2024 will take place on October 5, 2024, at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. If CM Punk fails to get medically cleared for SummerSlam 2024, WWE could postpone their singles bout to Bad Blood. This would result in the returning PLE featuring their iconic showdown after months of personal animosity.
