3 things WWE cleverly told us on SmackDown Live after Double or Nothing ( 28 May 2019)

SmackDown Live delivered a great episode this week
SmackDown Live delivered a great episode this week

AEW took the wrestling world by storm with Double or Nothing and the expectations were sky-high from WWE this week. A large number of fans were expecting a stellar episode of RAW but it did not reach the expectations.

On the other hand, SmackDown Live was certainly better than the red brand this week. Although it was not a top-notch episode of the blue brand, it had some exciting segments with some impressive matches.

Kofi Kingston defeated Kevin Owens in a rematch of Money in the Bank, while Carmella avenged the loss of last week by pinning Mandy Rose. The SmackDown Women's Champion Bayley locked horns with Lacey Evans as the latter lost the bout. The team of R-Truth and Roman Reigns faced Drew McIntyre and Elias in a Tag Team match. The Big Dog pinned Elias to earn a victory for his team. Earlier, R-Truth lost his 24/7 Title to Elias but the former won it back with the help of Roman Reigns.

Super ShowDown is just two weeks away and it was a good edition of the blue brand. Here we discuss three things WWE cleverly told us on SmackDown Live this week.

#3 R-Truth will hold the 24/7 Title for a long time

The fans were vocal when Vince McMahon's billion dollar company introduced the 24/7 Championship last week. Mick Foley unveiled the new belt and we saw three champions on its first night. Since it can be defended 24 hours, it is likely to change hands frequently.

R-Truth, who survived several times with the title, got pinned by Elias on SmackDown Live this week. Hence, we got four champions in a span of one week. However, R-Truth reclaimed the belt in the main event of the show when Roman Reigns assisted him.

There is no denying that R-Truth has been an entertaining champion and a large number of fans are loving R-Truth as the champion. Considering R-Truth is one of the funniest characters of the company, his comedy grabs the attention of the fans. Since R-Truth reclaimed the title on SmackDown Live this week, he is likely to stay champion for a while.

#2 Aleister Black might get a strong opponent

Aleister Black made his main roster debut after Elimination Chamber this year. The Dutch Destroyer teamed up with Ricochet to form a tag team. The two men also competed for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles at the Showcase of Immortals.

Black became an official member of SmackDown Live after Superstar Shake-Up. Since moving to the blue brand, Black has not wrestled but he has been cutting some excellent backstage promos.

Black had colossal success in NXT. Apart from winning the NXT Championship, he also won the Male Competitor of the Year. Hence, Black has huge potential and the company might have a big plan for the former NXT Champion.

Black offered another backstage promo on the blue brand this week. He mentioned that he is waiting for somebody to pick a fight with him. We could witness a new opponent of Black in the next few weeks and it could be a big name.

Several Superstars could have a remarkable rivalry with Black. In my humble opinion, the former Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy could be a great opponent of Black, while Bray Wyatt could be another good choice.

#1 Lacey Evans and Charlotte Flair could have a new rivalry

It was unexpected
It was unexpected

Though Lacey Evans is part of RAW, she has been appearing on SmackDown Live through Wild Card Rule. Lacey Evans faced the SmackDown Women's Champion Bayley this week. The Sassy Southern Belle lost the match but we saw a huge surprise after the bout. Evans attacked Charlotte Flair from behind, but the Queen fought back. Charlotte stood tall after taking down Evans.

Earlier, the two women formed a great alliance. Though Evans failed to grab the RAW Women's Title at Money in the Bank, she helped Charlotte to win the SmackDown Women's Title at XL Center. Though the celebration was short lived as Bayley cashed in the Money in the Bank briefcase.

Since Lacey Evans and Charlotte put their hands on each other this week, we might see a twist in this storyline. The Queen could start a new rivalry with the Sassy Southern Belle. However, Charlotte is still chasing the most coveted women's title of the blue brand.

Hence, it will not be surprising if we see a triple threat match between Lacey Evans, Bayley and Charlotte Flair at Stomping Grounds. Moreover, Charlotte and Evans could lock horns, and the winner might become the number one contender of SmackDown Women's Title.
