It will be the final Friday Night SmackDown before heading to Crown Jewel, which takes place next Thursday. While both Cain Velasquez and Ric Flair showed up on RAW this week and will also appear again on the Blue brand. Cain Velasquez and Brock Lesnar will have a face off before their mega clash at Crown Jewel. Ric Flair, on the other hand, will confront Hulk Hogan before their respective teams clash in Saudi Arabia. Bray Wyatt is also slated to return with the first Firefly Fun House segment since Seth Rollins burned it all down on RAW last week.
It will be a star studded SmackDown with a number of prolific names. The show will take place at Sprint Center, in Kansas City, Missouri. Given it will be the last episode before the Crown Jewel pay-per-view, fans should expect a number of exciting segments.
Here we discuss three things WWE could be planning on SmackDown this week.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
#3 The Fiend appears in the Firefly Fun House to send a warning to Seth Rollins
The Universal Championship match is set for Crown Jewel, where Seth Rollins will defend the belt against The Fiend. It will be a rematch of their Hell in a Cell bout, where the two men battled inside a steel cage. Unlike Hell in a Cell, however, this Falls Count Anywhere match can not be stopped for any reason.
The storyline garnered more attention last week when Rollins entered the Firefly Fun House, only to burn the entire thing down to the ground. While Bray Wyatt wasn't present on RAW this week, WWE announced the return of the Firefly Fun House for SmackDown and fans should expect the latest edition of Wyatt's show to be eventful.
Bray Wyatt is the host of Firefly Fun House, but his alter ego (The Fiend) has never actually been in the house. Given the fact that The Fiend will take on Rollins at Crown Jewel, Wyatt's evil persona could show up in the Firefly Fun House, sending a hidden message to the Universal Champion before their highly anticipated bout in Saudi Arabia.
#2 Cain Velasquez and Brock Lesnar get into a brawl
WWE has been doing a great job promoting the WWE Championship match between Brock Lesnar and Cain Velasquez. With the hype surrounding this bout, fans are eagerly waiting to see the two behemoths collide in the squared circle. After making his presence felt on RAW this week, Velasquez will appear again on SmackDown and will come face to face with 'The Beast.'
When Cain Velasquez made his WWE debut on the SmackDown on FOX premiere, Lesnar was in a state of shock. In fact, Lesnar walked away from the ring after being attacked by the former two-time UFC Heavyweight Champion. Given Velasquez's dominance over Lesnar in the Octagon, the former two-time Universal Champion will be an underdog at Crown Jewel, which is a rare thing for 'The Beast Incarnate.'
Things will get serious, as Velasquez will confront Lesnar on SmackDown, and the two are expected to get physical. If they do brawl, it will be a huge one and difficult to break up. Judging by this storyline's build, Velasquez is likely to dominate Lesnar, making a strong statement before Crown Jewel.
#1 Roman Reigns, Shorty G, & Ali destroy Baron Corbin and Nakamura
For the first time since the RAW season premiere, Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair will stand toe to toe in the same ring. Ric Flair has already issued a warning to Team Hogan, choosing Drew McIntyre as the final member of Team Flair. With some big names on both teams, it should be a spectacular tag team match at Crown Jewel.
While Team Hogan is filled with babyfaces, Team Flair has heels from both RAW and SmackDown. Ric Flair has Superstars like: Bobby Lashley, Baron Corbin, Nakamura, Drew McIntyre, and Randy Orton. 'The Viper' will lead Team Flair. After being selected as the captain of Team Hogan last week, Roman Reigns will be joined by: Ali, Rusev, Ricochet, and Shorty G.
There is no way things go smoothly between Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan when they are present on the Blue brand this week. Baron Corbin and Nakamura, who are representing Team Flair from SmackDown, will be aiming to gain momentum, but they will be outnumbered by three SmackDown Superstars of Team Hogan. Given the fact that Reigns is the captain of Team Hogan, he could prove his worth by delivering vicious spears to Baron Corbin and Nakamura. Whatever does indeed happen, look for the Team Hogan vs Team Flair build to intensify.
