3 things WWE got right on this week's SmackDown Live and 2 things they got wrong (March 19th, 2019)

That's right, another episode of SmackDown Live is in the history books, meaning there are just a handful of episodes of the blue brand left before the showcase of the immortals: WrestleMania 35.

A special appearance by the Women's Tag Team Champions helped add to the excitement of the show, as we continue on the road to WrestleMania.

In addition, we also saw Kofi Kingston try to survive the odds against five of SmackDown's biggest stars, as well a some a huge title match made for the granddaddy of them all.

But not everything was great with this week, which had plenty of pitfalls.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

Here are three things the WWE got spot-on on this week's edition of SmackDown Live, as well as two things that could have been a whole lot better:

#3 Got it right: WrestleMania announcements

Will Mysterio hold the only title that has alluded him after WrestleMania 35?
Will Mysterio hold the only title that has alluded him after WrestleMania 35?

WrestleMania is only a handful of days away, and it is starting to show.

The 35th extravaganza under the name, this year is shaping up to be a huge show, full of exciting matches.

One match fans can look forward to is United States Champion Samoa Joe, defending his title from Rey Mysterio.

Joe, who won the star-spangled strap has yet to compete at the showcase of the immortals, whilst Mysterio hasn't in years. An exciting match for sure, the two men's differing styles will make this one to remember.

Many assumed Joe would be facing John Cena for the title, though he could now be free to face Kurt Angle, even though the Olympian announced Baron Corbin as his final opponent.

Whatever happens, expect this year's show to be truly historic.

#2 Got it wrong: The Empress is missing

The Empress was nowhere to be seen on this week's show.
The Empress was nowhere to be seen on this week's show.

At TLC 2018, Asuka finally completed her plan that started in January that year, when she became the SmackDown Women's Champion.

A huge win over both Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair, this win had been a long time coming, though has seemingly been forgotten by the company.

With more focus than ever before on the RAW Women's Championship, Asuka has clearly been overlooked.

Never was that more obvious than this week, when Lynch and Flair, who will compete at WrestleMania against Ronda Rousey, spoke of the RAW Women's title, whilst Asuka, the top star on their own brand, was nowhere to be seen, and still has no opponent for the pay per view.

If this happens next week, perhaps the WWE should send out cartons of milk with the Japanese star's face on.

#2 Got it right: The Miz's face turn

Miz said his former partner was rotten to the core, just like his father Vince McMahon.
Miz said his former partner was rotten to the core, just like his father Vince McMahon.

With his Hollywood good looks and fancy clothes, it's easy to see why fans boo The Miz.

The A-Lister hasn't exactly done himself any favors over the years, mocking beloved stars in feuds like John Cena, and a then-face Daniel Bryan.

But when Shane McMahon snapped on his former partner and attacked The Miz's father, a change occurred in the former WWE Champion.

Appearing on SmackDown Live this week, Miz cut an impassioned promo, talking about the pain Shane O'Mac has caused, firmly establishing himself as the face.

This was received well by fans, who booed Miz for years but respect the man himself.

Fighting to avenge his father, and with a second child on the way, expect this family man to shut his former partner up at WrestleMania.

#1 Got it wrong: Vince screws Kofi, again!

Kofi defeated five of SmackDown's top stars but fell to Daniel Bryan.
Kofi defeated five of SmackDown's top stars but fell to Daniel Bryan.

Don't get me wrong. At WrestleMania 35, I predict that Kofi Kingston will face Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship, despite what went down this week.

In case you missed it, Kingston defeated five of SmackDown Live's top stars to qualify for the match, but came up short against Bryan, who was added last minute to the gauntlet match.

Whilst I'm sure this is to build the story, sometimes, you just have to give fans what they want.

Kofi winning would've definitely made the fans happy, after he's been screwed over before by the Chairman of the board.

And though he'll probably qualify for the WrestleMania match next week, this leaves very little time for a specific story between Bryan and him to be told, instead of Kofi vs. McMahon.

#1 Got it right: Kofi's Iron Man performance

Though he ultimately came up short, Kingston had the match of a lifetime against five huge stars.
Though he ultimately came up short, Kingston had the match of a lifetime against five huge stars.

The New Day star may not be going to WrestleMania (yet!), but that didn't stop him from giving the performance of a lifetime.

Meeting Randy Orton, Sheamus, Cesaro, Samoa Joe and Erick Rowan, Kingston had to fight for all he had, and certainly did that.

His second gauntlet match in recent months, Kofi continues to impress fans, gathering a legion of followers behind his campaign for a title match at WrestleMania.

Though fans have claimed that Kingston's loss this week is him being 'buried', it's hard to ignore the fact that he has quickly become the hottest commodity on SmackDown, despite coming up short tonight and at the Elimination Chamber pay per view.

Make no mistake, Kofi Kingston is going to the showcase of the immortals.
