It was a good week for WWE as the Blue Brand also delivered a stupendous episode. SmackDown Live toppled RAW this week as the show had better matches. Moreover, we also saw some exciting segments.
The first round of the King of the Ring tournament was completed on SmackDown Live this week. Chad Gable defeated Shelton Benjamin, while Ali pinned Buddy Murphy. Lacey Evans made her TV return for the first time since Extreme Rules but the Sassy Southern Belle lost to Bayley. Things got heated between Randy Orton and Kofi Kingston as the two men had a brawl. The storyline of Roman Reigns took an interesting turn when Erick Rowan was exposed as the mysterious attacker of the Big Dog.
SmackDown Live had some impressive matches and the show was enjoyable this week. Let's find out three things WWE made clear on the Blue Brand.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
#3 The Revival will challenge The New Day at Clash of Champions
While the challengers for the RAW Tag Team Titles were confirmed on the Red Brand this week, the next challengers for the Tag Titles could be announced soon. The Revival, who have been appearing on SmackDown Live through Wild Card Rule, could chase the SmackDown Tag Team Titles.
The New Day member, Big E, fought Randy Orton on SmackDown Live this week. It was a great match as the powerhouse of New Day showed his proficiency in the ring. The Revival interfered the match and they helped Orton to defeat Big E.
Orton formed a new alliance with The Revival following SummerSlam. Moreover, Dash Wilder and Scott Dawkins crossed paths with the New Day members a couple of times in the past few weeks and we saw a similar scenario on the Blue Brand this week. Since Orton will take on Kingston at Clash of Champions, it is clear that The Revival will fight Xavier Woods and Big E.
#2 Lacey Evans could become part of Clash of Champions
Lacey Evans, whose last match was at Extreme Rules, returned this week. Evans took on Becky Lynch in a Mixed Match Challenge at Extreme Rules. While she was part of RAW earlier, she made her presence felt on SmackDown Live this week. Following her return, Evans locked horns with the SmackDown Women's Champion Bayley.
Last week, the SmackDown Women's Championship match was confirmed between Bayley and Charlotte Flair. Ember Moon demanded a rematch to Bayley but Lacey Evans interrupted the two women. Evans and Bayley subsequently produced a good match and the champion was victorious.
Since the Sassy Southern Belle is back, she might get a spot at Clash of Champions. We witnessed several matches between Bayley and Charlotte as the two women crossed paths in NXT and RAW. If Evans gets added to the SmackDown Women's Title match, it could become interesting.
Also, Evans could start a new feud with Ember Moon, who is a babyface. If Moon and Evans collide at Clash of Champions, the winner could get a title shot after Clash of Champions. After making her main roster debut, the Sassy Southern Belle has established herself as a top name of the women's division and it will not be surprising if she gets a match at Clash of Champions.
#1 The rivalry between Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan officially began
The mystery of the unknown attacker was solved on SmackDown Live this week and the company hinted a new feud for Clash of Champions. Last week, Daniel Bryan and Erick Rowan revealed an unknown man as the assaulter who looked identical to Rowan. The unknown man was highly unlikely to be the actual attacker of Reigns and it was proved correct on SmackDown Live.
Daniel Bryan demanded an apology from the Big Dog after the former revealed the attacker last week. However, Reigns waited till the main event where we saw a major twist. Reigns showed video footage from the backstage attack as Erick Rowan was the man behind the incident. Although Bryan refused his association in this attack, Reigns didn't believe him. When Bryan entered the ring to prove his innocence, the Big Dog delivered a vicious spear.
The ending of SmackDown Live certainly gave us a hint of the highly anticipated rivalry between Reigns and Bryan. The fans expected to see them at SummerSlam but it didn't happen. Though Bryan refused to take the blame, he probably convinced Rowan to attack the former Universal Champion. Bryan and Reigns had a brilliant feud in 2015 and it will be refreshing to see them collide at Clash of Champions. Considering the build-up, we could expect a sumptuous feud.
