The new year is almost upon us, and with it comes many changes in WWE. In particular, NXT might see a couple of changes that could change the whole dynamic of the black and silver brand. This could include the departure of a three-time champion, who has been part of the roster for three years.
The superstar in question is none other than Trick Williams. The 30-year-old is the current NXT Champion, in his second reign, and also previously held the North American Championship. He is all set to defend his title against Oba Femi and Eddy Thorpe at New Year's Evil, but it could be his last time on the brand. Why? Because he could lose the match, and then return a few weeks later on the main roster.
NXT New Year's Evil is bound to be a tricky PLE for Trick Williams. Not only does he have to deal with Eddy Thorpe, but there is also the huge problem that is The Ruler, Oba Femi. There is a good chance he loses, and if he does, it could be a sign that he is on his way to the main roster. If that proves to be the case, he could very well make the move at the Royal Rumble 2025.
A top AEW star just called one of his colleagues 'spoiled' and 'narcissistic' HERE.
Of course, at the end of the day, this is all just speculation. There is no telling what the outcome of New Year's Evil will be. Only time will tell.
Trick Williams isn't the only champion defending his title at NXT New Year's Evil
There is no denying that New Year's Evil is going to be a "banger" of a PLE, to quote Sheamus. However, there is still time for the event, with it being more than a week away. That being said, there are two matches that have already been scheduled, and Trick Williams isn't the only champion defending his title.
On January 7, 2025, Roxanne Perez, the current NXT Women's Champion, will be demonstrating her talents once more. In the past year, she has shown her dominance by emerging victorious against all competitors. Despite this, her toughest rival so far has been Giulia, and they will face off again at New Year's Evil.
It will be interesting to see what else Triple H and Shawn Michaels have planned for the event. One thing is for sure, though: the outcome of the event could determine how the entire year unfolds for the black and silver brand.
