WWE has often seen several unlikely alliances form among wrestlers who don’t really see eye-to-eye with each other. As a new calendar year starts, this trope could see a revival on Nick Aldis' SmackDown.

Here are three unlikely tag teams that fans may temporarily see on the blue brand:

#3. Drew McIntyre and Kevin Owens may target the Undisputed WWE Champion

Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens are involved in a highly physical and personal feud right now. The Prizefighter has established that he isn’t here to play fair and has destroyed Rhodes with a Package Piledriver. Owens also stolen the Winged Eagle WWE Title at Saturday Night's Main Event.

Last week, he attacked the Undisputed WWE Champion while the latter was not medically cleared to wrestle. Interestingly, this ambush took place while Drew McIntyre had The American Nightmare distracted. Moreover, while The Scottish Psychopath had seemingly extended a helping hand to Rhodes after hugging him, he just watched as KO attacked the latter.

While Drew McIntyre always acts as a lone wolf, he could team up with Kevin Owens and use his rage against Cody Rhodes to take the Undisputed WWE Champion down. Both of them also have a common enemy in The Bloodline and could do a lot of damage together.

#2. Nia Jax could team up with Chelsea Green to get revenge

Nia Jax was recently dethroned as the WWE Women’s Champion after her ‘friend’ Tiffany Stratton cashed in the Money in the Bank contract on her. Notably, Queen Nia wasn’t completely unaware of Tiffy’s intentions. Moreover, Chelsea Green had warned the former champion of Stratton’s true intentions in person and had also released a video message via a tweet on X (fka Twitter).

The Irresistible Force would now look for revenge and try to reclaim her title. Interestingly, The Women’s US Champion could offer her help to Jax in taking Tiffy down. The Hot Mess already has a grudge against Stratton since she denied her the Money in the Bank victory in front of her home crowd. Thus, Jax and Green could make another temporary tag team.

#1. Andrade and Carmelo Hayes could blow up as a highly volatile duo

WWE Superstars Carmelo Hayes and Andrade had one of the most vicious rivalries spanning seven matches and several backstage altercations last year. The two wrestlers clashed for superiority over the other as well as for the title shot opportunities against the then-US Champion LA Knight.

Both of them put on a great show and kept the crowd engaged despite facing each other seven times in the same calendar year. However, the two now find themselves at the back of the title opportunity line as Shinsuke Nakamura has now become the US Champ.

While Melo and Andrade have very different personalities and principles when it comes to wrestling, the two have a common objective: the United States Championship. Moreover, the WWE Speed Champ could also consider teaming up with Hayes after his recent non-title bout defeat against Nakamura.

The two wrestlers could then join hands and attack The King of Strong Style and nick a title opportunity.

It would be interesting to see if any of these tag teams actually come to life on SmackDown.
