What Vince McMahon did with Kofi was a blatant abuse of power. It crushed Kofi's dreams of becoming the WWE champion after he had spent a decade crawling and clutching to win the gold.

The New Day announced on tonight's SmackDown that they will be there at the Fastlane PPV. This is an indication that The New Day could get involved in the WWE title match. This makes complete sense as Kofi was deceived out of the WWE title opportunity and ruining the match with an interference would be the exact way to send a message to Vince McMahon.
The New Day interferes and beats up Bryan and Rowan, but that's still not enough as Bryan ends up with a sneak victory via a small package on Owens. On SmackDown, Vince finally gives in to Kofi and makes a triple threat match for the WWE title at Mania, finally giving Kofi his moment at glory.

Given the opportunity to script WWE’s next big storyline, Abhilash would treat fans to the second installment of The Bloodline Civil War. He would book Roman Reigns to re-form The Bloodline with The Usos and Sami Zayn upon his comeback. The angle would see The Tribal Chief-led group go head-to-head with The Rock, Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Jacob Fatu in a blockbuster family feud.
