AJ Styles blasted into the WWE when he made his debut in Royal Rumble 2016 to a huge pop. Apart from sheer excitement, this pop signified the amount of expectation that lay on his shoulders at that time. Fast forward two years and no one can deny that Styles has been the best in-ring performer in the WWE since the last few years.
People who claimed to be the best in the world to those who claimed to be the best there ever would be, many have come and gone. But, I don’t think they would be audacious enough to look Styles in the eyes and still claim what they claimed before.

Or could there be someone? I think so. Here is a list of three currently active wrestlers who can claim to be better than AJ Styles.

#3 Kenny Omega

Kenny Omega was a well know wrestler until the end of 2016. But, his match with Kazuchika Okada at Wrestle Kingdom 11 made him a household name. Since then, Omega has not looked back. His trilogy of matches with Kazuchika Okada is now being acclaimed as the greatest ever in the world of pro wrestling.
But what really makes Omega so great?
When we come to think of it, he is in many ways similar and at par with AJ Styles when it comes to pure in-ring work. Both are solid grapplers who are always ready to fly high. Both have unique finishers which always guarantee a pop from the crowd and both are trusted main-eventers who have the stamina to go well beyond the 30-minute mark in big matches.
What really takes Omega a notch above is his superior charisma which is evident by the fact that no one can elicit a louder pop than Kenny Omega. If he can be so over among the Japanese fans, imagine the amount of noise he could generate inside a WWE arena. Add to that, his prowess on the mic and there you have a pro-wrestler who can give "The Phenomenal One" a run for his money.
#2 Cesaro

Without a doubt, Cesaro is the most misused wrestler in the entire WWE roster. Although his current run with Sheamus as a tag team has been very successful and highly entertaining, Cesaro deserves way more than Tag Team Championship.
It is obvious that when it comes to charisma or mic skills, Cesaro can’t hold the candle to Omega or even Styles. But, when it comes to pure wrestling, there is probably no one better than Cesaro.
What makes him so prodigious is his superhuman strength and ability to do things that probably no human in the world can. While reading the above line, things like swinging The Great Khali, body slamming The Big Show and doing cartwheels on the top rope might leap to the mind. But, that’s just tip of the iceberg.
Anyone who has seen Cesaro perform outside of a WWE ring knows that he is capable of much more. Moves like the UFO, Alpamare Waterslide and Ricola bomb are simply awe-inspiring and are yet to be performed regularly on WWE TV. One day when we see Cesaro performing these moves on guys like Lesnar and Strowman, ask yourself if Cesaro is not the best.
#1 Kazuchika Okada

Kazuchika Okada is only 30 years old and is already one of the most legendary wrestlers in Japan. Just let that sink in for a minute.
Professional wrestling was never about monkey spots or big moves and it is sad to see that it is heading towards that direction with each passing week. In the midst of this shift, Kazuchika Okada stands out as a throwback wrestler.
Okada is not a wrestler who will impress you with flashy moves or make your eyes pop out with high flying moves. But, Okada's match will keep you on the edge of your seat for the bulk of it and in the end, you would probably be forced to stand up and give this guy an ovation.
The reason for this is the fact that Okada has mastered the art of in-ring psychology and he brings out of his matches one thing that pro-wrestling always has been all about – a story. He has proved that it does not always require power, speed or agility to be the best, sometimes one can achieve greatness by just getting the small things wright.
Okada is currently leading the race of becoming the greatest of all time and the figures behind him appear to be too small.
