In 1997, during the first ever Hell In A Match between The Undertaker and Shawn Micheal, Paul Bearer introduced Kane to the WWE Universe. He then gave a Tombstone Piledriver to The Undertaker which cost him the match.

After feuding with each other, the WWE paired them in a tag team. Both were playing a similar gimmick and this is why the idea of making them kayfabe brothers worked.

They were portrayed as half-brothers on many storylines but there is no blood relation between these two legends in real life.
