WWE Backlash is barely a week away and the stakes for the upcoming premium live event are quite high. The event is supposed to mark new feuds and storylines following the culmination of WrestleMania XL.
However, the latest episode of Friday Night SmackDown teased the rise of new rivalries between some superstars. Below are the three WWE Backlash feuds teased on the blue brand.
#3. The Caribbean Bad Apple Carlito could face a high-flying star at WWE Backlash 2024
Dragon Lee was all set to compete in a high-stakes WrestleMania XL match in Philadelphia before he got viciously attacked by a mystery person backstage. The luchador was all set to team up with Rey Mysterio to face Santos Escobar and Dominik Mysterio at The Show of Shows but was replaced at the last minute. After several weeks, on the latest episode of SmackDown, Escobar revealed the truth by showing footage of Carlito attacking Lee from behind while the entire Latino World Order stood in the ring.
Acting on his nasty heel instincts, The Caribbean Bad Apple caught Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee with another sneak attack immediately after he was exposed on SmackDown. With this, Carlito has made himself a big enemy of the Latino World Order, and they would likely want to settle scores with him at WWE Backlash 2024. The 45-year-old star may now face either Dragon Lee or Rey Mysterio at the premium live event in Lyon, France.
#2. Andrade may take another shot at Santos Escobar
Andrade was the replacement for the Latino World Order when Carlito viciously attacked Dragon Lee backstage. While things initially looked bad for Rey Mysterio because his primary partner was replaced, the former NXT Champion shocked Dominik Mysterio and Santos Escobar as the Latino World Order secured a win at WrestleMania XL.
However, it seems that a beatdown at The Show of Shows may not have been enough for Andrade. Carlito may be the center of attention right now, but Legado Del Fantasma’s leader, Santos Escobar, still has some dues to pay. Moreover, Andrade will also look forward to securing a match at Backlash France to have a better run on SmackDown as compared to RAW.
#1. Zelina Vega can go after Elektra Lopez
Zelina Vega and Elektra Lopez have been engaged in a heated rivalry for several weeks now. Vega, representing the Latino World Order, and Lopez, who is a part of the Legado Del Fantasma, are in a chaotic faction war right now. While Rey Mysterio and Andrade secured a win at WrestleMania XL, Vega was not involved in the action. Moreover, she is more on edge after the events that transpired on the latest episode of SmackDown.
Although it was Carlito who betrayed the Latino World Order, everything started after the formation of the Legado Del Fantasma. The same reason fuels Andrade's feud with Santos Escobar, but the former has already settled scores with the latter at WrestleMania XL in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Thus, the next chapter of Zelina Vega and Elektra Lopez's feud can be written at Backlash France on May 4, 2024.
