WWE had an average year, as the ratings were substandard, but the WWE Universe witnessed numerous top-notch matches. Nonetheless, next year is expected to be better. The McMahon family appeared on Raw a few weeks ago, and promised a better product.

Numerous incidents happened in 2018 - such as Roman Reigns relinquishing the Universal title due to illness, and leaving the company temporarily.

Also, Bobby Lashley and Rey Mysterio returned to WWE, performing on Raw and SmackDown Live respectively. Shawn Michaels ended his retirement, and he had a match against the Brothers of Destruction at Crown Jewel. Ronda Rousey also made her debut in WWE, and she is presently the Raw women's champion.

The first women's Royal Rumble match was introduced this year, and WWE showcased the first ever all-women pay-per-view, Evolution, and it had the first-ever last woman standing match.

Many superstars achieved success this year. However, a lot of talented superstars were underutilised.

Here we discuss three superstars who could shine in 2019.


#3 Rusev

Rusev is one of the most popular wrestlers of the blue brand. He had an ordinary year because he didn't have a notable feud, but he ended the year on a high, as he won the US title.

Rusev made his main roster debut in 2014, and he had a memorable start to his main roster career, as he had an unbeaten run which lasted over a year. His first US title run lasted 146 days, and he lost the title to John Cena at WrestleMania 31. Rusev has won the US title thrice, and he is the current champion.

Rusev's third title reign is expected to be impressive, and his career might get back in the right direction. Nakamura's title reign was bland, and WWE will be aiming to bring back the prestige of the US title.

Shayna Baszler has a good future in the women's division, and she might do well in 2019. She is presently in NXT, and is the current NXT women's champion. There is a huge possibility she will make her main roster debut next year, as she might get her main roster call-up after WrestleMania 35.

Baszler was a former mixed martial artist. She made her MMA debut in 2006, and fought for various promotions. She was also in UFC, but she couldn't garner notable success.

Subsequently, WWE signed her in 2017, and she has achieved plenty of success in NXT. She has had some exciting feuds with Ember Moon, Nikki Cross, & Kairi Sane, and she is the only woman to have won the NXT women's championship twice.

Baszler has had spectacular feuds with numerous elite female superstars, she has a similar background to Ronda Rousey, and could be a believable candidate to pin the Raw women's champion.

Ronda is still unbeaten in WWE, and it will be interesting to see if she stays undefeated till Baszler makes her main roster debut.

There is a huge possibility Finn Balor will shine next year. Balor had an awe-inspiring match against Drew McIntyre at TLC 2018, and he won the match after Dolph Ziggler interfered. As a matter of fact, Balor also won a triple threat match against McIntyre and Ziggler on Raw. It has certainly given him momentum, and he might get a big push in 2019.

Balor is one of the best in-ring performers in WWE, and he had massive popularity in Japan. WWE signed Balor in 2014, and he had a flying start to his WWE career. Balor became the NXT Champion, and he had some memorable feuds in NXT. Balor was the longest reigning NXT Champion, and he held the title for 292 days.

Balor made his main roster debut in 2016, and he became the first ever Universal Champion. However, he had to relinquish the title due to an injury. He has not been in the title picture for over two years.

Balor is undoubtedly exceptional in the squared circle, and he could be a top guy in the company. It will be interesting to see if he manages to win the Royal Rumble next year. He could move to SmackDown Live, and challenge the WWE Champion, Daniel Bryan, at WrestleMania 35.
