Money In the Bank has been a constant source of entertainment for the WWE Universe for close to two decades now. Throughout its history, 30 superstars have climbed the ladder and captured that prized briefcase. This includes the likes of Edge, who was the inaugural winner, and CM Punk, who won the briefcase not once but twice.
There is no denying, that many superstars have achieved their dreams by becoming Mr. or Ms. Money In the Bank. However, there are a few stars that some may say were undeserving. In other words, WWE made a mistake by allowing them to get a hold of the briefcase.
These superstars either did nothing of note with the contract in hand, didn't need it, or simply had nothing to do with the match whatsoever. So, without further ado, here are three superstars who should've never won the Money In the Bank briefcase.

#3. Jack Swagger's run as Mr. Money In the Bank was rather bland
Jack Swagger didn't exactly have the most memorable WWE career. While he is a physical specimen, his character during his run with the company left a lot to be desired. This was made even more evident when he won the Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania XXVI.
Swagger barely held on to the briefcase, as he attempted a cash-in on then-WWE Champion, John Cena on the RAW after WrestleMania, but decided against it. A few days later, he took advantage of an attack by Edge on Chris Jericho, successfully cashed in his contract, and became World Heavyweight Champion.
While he did fulfill the purpose of holding the briefcase, it wasn't exactly an exciting run.
#2. Kane was an established star who did not need the briefcase
In 2010, Kane became Mr. Money In the Bank, his only win in the record seven appearances he had made in the ladder match. It was a big moment for The Big Red Machine, but one that he honestly did not need. As one of the biggest superstars at the time, the briefcase essentially did nothing for Kane.
What's more, he held it for no less than 49 minutes before cashing in on Rey Mysterio, the fan-favorite. It was another achievement on the long list that Kane has. But, at the end of the day, perhaps the briefcase would have done a lot more in the hands of an up-and-coming star, rather than the WWE legend's.
#1. Brock Lesnar wasn't even supposed to be in the ladder match
In 2019, the Money In the Bank ladder match was meant to be between Baron Corbin, Drew McIntyre, Ricochet, Mustafa Ali, Andrade, Finn Balor, Randy Orton, and Sami Zayn. Unfortunately, Zayn was injured on the night, before he could even participate in the match. Nevertheless, the show must go on, and the match went ahead as usual with one man down.
It was an incredible main event, where each superstar gave it their all, until the very end. Just when it looked like Mustafa Ali was about to win, Brock Lesnar made his shocking return. He came in as Zayn's unannounced replacement and simply knocked Ali off the ladder before climbing up and retrieving the briefcase.
Lesnar's return got a huge pop from the WWE Universe, but in hindsight, his victory was rather boring. After all, he didn't even do much in the match apart from making a short appearance, knocking an opponent off the ladder, and winning.
