Jericho defended Orton in 2016.

At Summerslam 2016, Randy Orton had what many considered a dream match, as he took on Brock Lesnar in their first-ever encounter.

However, the night didn't go well for Orton, who lost by TKO, after Lesnar busted open the Apex Predator, demolishing Orton in the middle of the ring.

According to reports, Chris Jericho, who had competed earlier that night was livid, and threatened to fight Brock backstage, a story that quickly made the headlines.

Defending himself later on, the Ayatollah of Rock and Rolla said he was only looking out for a good friend, that being Orton, and was wanting to make sure the Viper hadn't been taken advantage of by Lesnar.

This clearly shows that Jericho and Orton are good friends, and whilst Y2J may often be missing from the company, both men look out for each other.
