The year 2024 was the year of Cody Rhodes in WWE. The American Nightmare had a phenomenal time competing in some of the biggest matches for the company this year.
Cody Rhodes nearly had the 2024 WrestleMania main event stolen from him before fans got behind him. It not only allowed him to face Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Championship on Night 2 of WrestleMania 40 but also headline for the first time alongside Seth Rollins, Reigns, and The Rock.

#3. Cody Rhodes won the Undisputed WWE Championship
The year started with Cody Rhodes looking to redeem himself after losing the main event of WrestleMania 39 to Roman Reigns. He entered the 2024 Royal Rumble as the favorite to win it for the second consecutive time.
After winning the Royal Rumble Match, his road to WrestleMania was hampered by The Rock’s return, who looked to challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Championship. His fans helped him get the match he had worked hard to earn.
At WrestleMania 40, The American Nightmare finally slayed The Original Tribal Chief and won the Undisputed WWE Championship. It was Rhodes’ first World Title win in the company this year.
#2. Gunther fell to The American Nightmare at Crown Jewel 2024
Fans in Saudi Arabia have always looked for some first-time contests to make their PLEs must-watch shows. This year, the Crown Jewel even circled two new titles.
The Men’s and Women’s Crown Jewel Championships were revealed ahead of the show. The top two men’s and women’s champions were set to collide for the title at the event.
Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes faced World Heavyweight Champion Gunther at the event. Many hoped The Ring General would win the contest and stay unpinned in his championship run.
Surprisingly, Triple H allowed Rhodes to pin Gunther and win the contest clean to take home the Crown Jewel Title and the ring. It was The American Nightmare’s second title win in 2024.
#1. Saturday Night’s Main Event added another title to Cody Rhodes’ collection
Saturday Night’s Main Event hosted a headlining match between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens. Triple H allowed Rhodes to bring the Winged Eagle World Title with him for one night only.
The match saw KO come close to winning before The American Nightmare got the pin. After the contest, Owens attacked Rhodes and took the Winged Eagle World Title with him.
The company seems to be treating the two titles separately now, which means Cody won it when he won the match and Kevin Owens before the latter stole it. The two men will now meet to unify the two titles at the 2025 Royal Rumble.
