Survivor Series is only two weeks away, and things have started to become increasingly intense on each and every weekly episodic WWE show. NXT instigated the brand war by invading SmackDown last week, and subsequently RAW this week. We also saw the O.C pay a visit to NXT to exert their dominance. It's safe to say that we will see more of these invasions in the shows leading up to the PPV.
One of the exciting things about this PPV is the inter-brand matches that take place. Two such matches have already been made official, and in the next few weeks, there will be more announcements. Apart from the traditional Survivor Series match, there are several exciting singles matches that could soon be announced.
These matches have been in the minds of fans for a few years, and with NXT's participation this year, now is the time for WWE to pull the rabbit out of the hat. In this article, we'll examine three WWE vs NXT matches that could potentially happen at Survivor Series.
Former WWE writer buries Judgment Day HERE
#3. Sasha Banks vs. Toni Storm
Sasha Banks has been one of the best female wrestlers in the world for quite a few years now. Banks came up just short in her feud with Becky Lynch before moving over to SmackDown during the WWE Draft.
Due to injury, Banks has been unable to wrestle for the last two weeks, however, she has now recovered, causing fans to ponder the SmackDown Superstar's role at the upcoming Survivor Series PPV.
If there's a traditional Survivor Series matchup, she could be involved in that as the captain of Team SmackDown. However, she could also be left out so that she can face a rising star like Toni Storm. The former NXT UK Women's champion hasn't been involved in the invasion angle so far, but WWE can easily have her attack Banks.
Toni Storm has said in the past that Banks is a "badass" whom she draws inspiration from. Banks may want to assert her dominance over the up and comer while the former NXT UK Women's Champion certainly wants to show that she can hang with one of the best wrestlers in WWE.
#2. Seth Rollins vs. Matt Riddle
Seth Rollins lost his Universal Championship to The Fiend at Crown Jewel 2019 in an exciting match. Ever since, he's been in the middle of a personal dilemma. On one hand, Rollins wants to continue fighting and climb the RAW rankings, but on the other hand, Triple H has offered him a place in NXT.
Some fans believe that Rollins will turn on RAW and cost the Red Brand at Survivor Series. While that may be great TV, we're not sure if Vince McMahon will pull that trigger just yet. Rollins does have fans intrigued at the moment, which he has been struggling to do for quite some time. The former Universal Champion could be involved in the five on five matches at Survivor Series or something even more notable.
If he's not involved in the aforementioned match, Survivor Series would provide a perfect opportunity to have him go one on one with any Superstar from NXT. One of the best options from NXT would be none other than Matt Riddle. Riddle can shine on the big Survivor Series stage, and if WWE wants to push him in the future, this would be an ideal way to get things started.
The match has the potential to steal the show, and Riddle could gain a lot with an upset victory over one of the faces of WWE. The bout can also act as a catalyst for Rollins' long anticipated heel turn.
#1. Daniel Bryan vs. Johnny Gargano
This has been a dream matchup for fans over the last few years due to the obvious similarities between these two wrestlers. Johnny Gargano has been the face and soul of NXT for a while now and has earned the admiration of fans. He's not big, but his attitude and heart have taken him to the very top of the Black & Gold Brand.
When you search the main roster for a person with similar attributes, you'll find Daniel Bryan at the top of the list. The two Superstars are mirror images of each other in many ways, so it would be great to see them square off in a dream match.
Their styles merge well inside the ring, and they have proven to be capable of working at any pace. The crowd loves both men, so it would be a very special occasion, if they do indeed square off at Survivor Series.
In the past, Daniel Bryan has mentioned that he wanted Gargano on SmackDown while Gargano has also said that he wants to face Bryan. If this does happen, it could prove to be one of the best matches of 2019.
