Montez Ford recently shared his frustrations on the role he has with WWE and the fact that he has yet to get a significant push either as a singles competitor or in the tag team division with The Sreet Profits. The duo are just the second WWE Tag Team Triple Crown Champions.
Ford opened up about the back-and-forth he has had with WWE management regarding his booking and left the door open for a split in The Street Profits.
"I think one is - oh yeah, I did see this one recently... And I think back to what you was asking earlier. They were saying, ‘Montez Ford doesn’t really wanna go solo because he’s afraid of leaving his partner.’ Now, I’m not afraid of anything. I’m not afraid of leaving my partner or anything like that. This is what I’ve been put to do since I’ve been here. I’ve been trying to make the best of this situation, just like anyone in life," Montez Ford told the Daily Mail, via Yahoo Sports.
WWE could use his seeming real-life frustration to create a storyline where The Street Profits lose again and Ford leaves the faction. At the same time, Angelo Dawkins decides to stay, so the 34-year-old turns heel and assaults his former partner, starting a feud with him.
The Triple H-led WWE creative can then have the feud eventually lead to a one-on-one match on RAW or a premium live event, like Saturday Night's Main Event on December 14, before the two go separate ways and pursue a singles run.
Montez Ford didn't like how WWE handled the Street Profits' partnership with Bobby Lashley
Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins teamed up with Bobby Lashley several months ago, and their faction, The Pride, had a decent run in the tag team division until WrestleMania 40, where they defeated Karion Kross and The Final Testament.
Speaking with The Daily Mail, the 34-year-old said he was frustrated to see that WWE put their push on hold after 'Mania.
"When all of those things were happening, we were very, very excited. Because he (Lashley) was somebody we looked up to, somebody I watched as a kid. And now I’m being paired with him, and he’s being my mentor, and he’s ushering us in this new chapter of The Street Profits. All these things are running, we have a WrestleMania win, and then boom, it just stops," Ford said, via Wrestlezone.
Bobby Lashley left the WWE in the summer and recently moved to AEW, reuniting with MVP and Shelton Benjamin. If Montez Ford eventually leaves the company, a move to AEW and a reunion with Lashley cannot be written off.
