The Judgment Day duo of Finn Balor and JD McDonagh defended their World Tag Team Championship on the latest episode of WWE RAW. They faced The New Day's Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods.
During the closing stages of the match, it appeared that Woods had the victory secured for his team. However, the referee was distracted by the chaos at ringside as Kingston was battling Judgment Day members Dominik Mysterio and Carlito. This distraction allowed Balor and McDonagh to capitalize on the situation and retain their title. After the match, Woods was visibly furious and his actions hinted at a possible heel turn.
Xavier Woods confronted the LWO backstage, who had come out to assist The New Day during their match. He blamed their interference for costing them the victory. Kofi Kingston then arrived and clarified that he had asked the LWO for backup in case The Judgment Day played the numbers game.
This revelation left Woods disappointed and frustrated, as Kingston had kept him in the dark about the plan. Woods’ frustration seems to be building, indicating that a heel turn could be on the horizon for him.
WWE has scrapped major plans for The New Day
During the latest episode of RAW, Kofi Kingston revealed to Xavier Woods that he had asked the LWO for help during their match. He emphasized that it was due to the fact that they were just the two of them now without Big E around.
This conversation seemed to further the tension between the two, a storyline WWE has been developing for weeks. WWE had been building toward a potential split when Kingston introduced Odyssey Jones into The New Day. At the time, Woods was visibly not pleased and it appeared that Jones' addition to the group might eventually lead to Woods turning heel and leaving The New Day.
However, those plans were scrapped after WWE released Odyssey Jones following domestic violence allegations.
It will be interesting to see what's in store for The New Day moving forward.
