WWE fired one of their lead Raw writers ahead of this week's show, which could be why the atmosphere surrounding this week's show was so tense. Michael Cole seemed to have an absolutely dire night since he was tripping over his words throughout and it appeared as though he was having a few issues with the people who were feeding the information to him.

Cole referred to Monday Night Raw as "Monday Night Yard" at the beginning of the show, completely overlooked Lacey Evans' finisher and then mumbled a lot of his words as he attempted to get through the show under a lot of pressure. Cole also stated that this was the first WWE Championship match on Raw in three years, despite the fact that Kofi Kingston and Seth Rollins had a Championship match on Raw last month.
