4 most improved Superstars of 2018

We all have to start somewhere right?

Whether it be in an unpaid internship, freelancing, or just working a dead-end minimum wage job, every single one of us needs to get our foot in the door at some part of our lives. In the WWE, this is no different, as many Superstars will have started off with much smaller roles than we know them for today.

Look at AJ Styles for example, who in the early 2000s, briefly worked with the company, primarily as enhancement talent: working to make more established Superstars look better

A lot has changed since then, with Styles returning in 2016, and now being one of the WWE's biggest stars.

Across the past year, Styles has held the WWE Championship but isn't the only star to grow with age.

Here are the four most improved Superstars, who have grown and developed over the past 12 months.

#4 Braun Strowman

When he debuted, Braun Strowman was nothing more than muscle, a henchman for Bray Wyatt, who was still rolling with the Wyatt family.

However, since leaving the group as part of the 2016 Superstar ShakeUp, Strowman has gone from strength to strength, especially over the past year.

After a Universal title loss at the Royal Rumble, the Monster Among Men bounced back, winning the RAW Tag Team Championships with Nicholas, defeating the Bar.

That same month, Strowman won the 50-Man Greatest Royal Rumble in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

A constant fixture on Monday Nights, Strowman has been a solid main-eventer in feuds with the Shield, Brock Lesnar and the Constable, Baron Corbin.

Despite this, WWE higher-ups opted not to put the Universal Title on him at Crown Jewel, instead opting for the controversial Lesnar, who held the title for 504 days recently.

Hopefully, the company will capitalize on his massive popularity in 2019.

#3 Becky Lynch

No-one has ever denied the massive talent that Becky Lynch has. Joining the main roster in 2015, the Lass Kicker was drafted to SmackDown in 2016, becoming the first SmackDown Women's Champion.

After he reign came (literally) crashing down in a Tables Match at TLC 2016, Becky quickly found herself lost in the shuffle, being overlooked on Tuesday nights for stars like Naomi, Natalya, Carmella, and Charlotte Flair.

When Flair regained the SmackDown Women's Championship at Summerslam, Lynch snapped, attacking her former friend in one of the best heel turns in recent memory.

Dethroning the Queen at Hell In A Cell, Lynch, who was once considered un-pushable for her accent, is now cutting fantastic promos each and every week.

Now as 'The Man', Lynch is continuing to ignite the crowd with her scathing promos on Survivor Series opponent, RAW Women's Champion, Ronda Rousey.

Speaking of the Hot Rod...

#2 'Rowdy' Ronda Rousey

When Ronda Rousey debuted at the January 2018 Royal Rumble, many had their doubts.

Some expected her to be like Brock Lesnar, who as a fellow UFC star, shows up very sporadically, and rarely defends his Universal Championship.

Instead, Rousey has been a consistent Superstar, with her WrestleMania debut match arguably being one of the best first-match performances in history.

Despite some negative feedback from fans, Rousey has been a huge draw, winning the RAW Women's Championship over Alexa Bliss.

Successfully defending her title at Hell In A Cell, Rousey has proven that she is here to stay, and unlike Lesnar, isn't afraid to compete on Monday Nights.

Now scheduled to face Becky Lynch at Survivor Series, fans will no doubt be intrigued to see which Superstar comes out on top next week, with both women being pushed so prominently by the company over the past year.

#1 'Constable' Baron Corbin

After losing his Money In the Bank cash-in match in the Summer of 2017, it seemed things could only be up for Baron Corbin.

Capturing the United States Championship in the fall that same year, the WWE clearly showed that they still had big plans for the Lone Wolf.

But it is in 2018 where Corbin has truly hit his stride, now working as the Acting General Manager of Monday Night RAW, had picked by Stephanie McMahon.

With a new look and prominent feuds, the Constable's career has been revitalized, as he is now featured constantly each week, feuding with the likes of Braun Strowman and Kurt Angle.

Whilst some of his decisions as Acting RAW General Manager may have been questionable at best (namely the Crown Jewel pay per view) fans should get used to seeing the Waistcoated Warrior on Monday nights, as 2018's most improved Superstar.
