The final episode of WWE SmackDown on the FOX Network took place at the Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The show featured the fallout from the Bash in Berlin weekend.
WWE’s next Premium Live Event will be Bad Blood, which is returning to the PLE calendar for the first time since 2004. Several key moments from the show planted seeds for potential matchups at this much-anticipated event.
Here are four potential matches for Bad Blood that were teased on Friday Night SmackDown.
#4. Austin Theory vs Grayson Waller
Tensions have been brewing between the A-Town Down Under duo of Austin Theory and Grayson Waller for some time now. This was seen during the latest episode of SmackDown as well. Waller and Theory faced hometown hero Kevin Owens in a triple threat match. While they still worked two-on-one on Owens for the majority of the match, there were still some instances of misunderstanding and tension between the two.
WWE needs to pull the trigger on Austin Theory's face turn soon which could lead to one of the main programs for Bad Blood.
#3. LA Knight (c) vs Carmelo Hayes vs Andrade- United States Championship
Carmelo Hayes and Andrade have had an intriguing rivalry on SmackDown over the past few weeks. They’ve already faced each other four times, with each securing two wins, and they'll meet again next week on SmackDown for Part five of their showdown.
During the latest episode of SmackDown, both Hayes and Andrade came out to confront LA Knight, staking their claim for a shot at his United States Championship. As Hayes and Andrade got into a physical altercation, Knight hit both of them with BFTs, sending a clear message. This confrontation seems to be building toward a potential triple threat match for the United States Championship at Bad Blood.
#2. Nia Jax (c) vs Tiffany Stratton
WWE has been teasing a potential Money in the Bank briefcase cash-in by Tiffany Stratton on her friend Nia Jax for the past few weeks. So far, Stratton has remained loyal, even helping Jax retain the WWE Women's Championship against Michin last week.
However, during this week's SmackDown, seeds were planted for what might happen down the line. In the closing stages of Stratton's match against Bayley, Jax came out to assist her friend but accidentally cost her the victory. It will be interesting to see if this eventually leads to Tiffany Stratton turning on Nia Jax, setting up a marquee match for the Bad Blood Premium Live Event next month.
#1. Cody Rhodes (c) vs Jacob Fatu - Undisputed WWE Championship
During the show, Cody Rhodes agreed to defend his Undisputed WWE Championship against Solo Sikoa on next week's SmackDown. However, before accepting the challenge, Rhodes stated that he believed Jacob Fatu was more deserving of a title shot than Solo.
Although Jacob remained loyal to Solo and declined the opportunity, WWE may have teased this matchup for a major event. If Rhodes retains his title next week, Jacob Fatu could be next in line. The Samoan Werewolf might have his first singles match at a Premium Live Event against The American Nightmare at Bad Blood.
