The Miz reunited with R-Truth on the latest episode of WWE RAW to take on the Authors of Pain, which consists of Akam and Rezar. Truth returned to the red brand after being out for almost two months and sided with The A-Lister, who eventually had a heel turn.

More specifically, The Miz attacked his tag team partner with a kick to the face and walked out on the latter after eventually losing to AOP.

The former WWE Champion left the ring and it remains to be seen what the plans are for him now that he has turned heel. With that in mind, let's take a look at four potential reasons why The A-Lister turned heel.

#4. The Miz needed a new direction on WWE RAW

The Miz reunited with R-Truth during the Road to WrestleMania XL and eventually became the then-RAW Tag Team Champions at The Grandest Stage of Them All this April.

Two months later, they lost the titles to JD McDonagh and Finn Balor of The Judgment Day, while R-Truth's injuries in August left him without a clear direction.

Despite being a babyface for a long time, The Miz never emerged as a top star in singles competition and did not challenge for any of the major titles on RAW. Thus, The Awesome One's heel turn could pave the way for a fresh start in his quest for singles gold.

#3. The Miz could team up with Karrion Kross on RAW

Over the past few months, fans have seen Karrion Kross try to manipulate both The New Day as well as The Miz and R-Truth. Even though he initially did not manage to break up any of these two tag teams, it appears that The A-Lister's heel turn is what Kross was looking for.

Currently, having no clear direction, Karrion Kross could convince The Miz to team up with him and join The Final Testament.

Teaming up with The Miz would allow Kross to work on a new storyline, while it might lead the duo to become massive names in the tag team division and look to dethrone Finn Balor and JD McDonagh since The A-Lister has unfinished business with The Judgment Day members.

#2. The Miz could bring Maryse back to WWE as his manager

The Miz and Maryse are considered one of WWE's power couples, but it has been a while since we last saw them together on RAW or SmackDown.

Now that the former WWE Champion has turned heel, his wife could make her return to the company and become his manager. Maryse had been dealing with some health issues over the past year, but she has now fully recovered.

Thus, she could return to play a new role, which could be the first step towards her in-ring return and future feud with other power couples on RAW, such as Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan or Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch (provided she signs a new deal with WWE and returns to the company).

#1. It paves the way for new storylines on WWE RAW

It doesn't matter if The Miz teams up with Karrion Kross or not, the former will have the chance to work on new storylines, following his heel turn and assault on R-Truth. First and foremost, The A-Lister would start a feud with Truth, as the latter would be out for revenge after what happened on RAW.

Additionally, the 43-year-old star will have the chance to go after one of the top babyfaces in WWE, the reigning Intercontinental Champion, Jey Uso, while the creative team could move him to SmackDown to challenge United States Champion LA Knight and Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, with both stars being top babyfaces.

Last but not least, his heel turn paves the way for a potential final match with John Cena in the coming months, since The Cenation Leader will retire in December 2025. This storyline would help re-ignite the feud between the two stars that started in the early 2010s and it is much easier to happen now that The Miz is a heel again.
