WWE fans were shocked on Sunday following a major report. A former multi-time world champion's contract with the sports entertainment juggernaut is seemingly set to expire. That man and former champion is Bobby Lashley.
Since the news broke, there has been a lot of speculation regarding what The All-Mighty's future could be. Some believe the former mixed martial artist could return to shootfighting, while others believe Lashley may go to All Elite Wrestling.
While all of these options are possible, none of them inherently have to be the case. Instead, the former world champion could potentially negotiate with Triple H and World Wrestling Entertainment officials and ultimately re-sign with his home promotion.
This article will take a look at a handful of reasons why it would be wise for the largest wrestling promotion on Earth to re-sign Lashley. This includes the competition aspect concerning All Elite Wrestling, his legacy in the company, and beyond.
Top name doesn't want to enter the WWE Hall of Fame. More details HERE.
Below are four reasons why WWE must re-sign Bobby Lashley before his contract expires.
#4. He is a big name and a former WWE Champion
Bobby Lashley has had a tremendous career in WWE. The big man has won numerous major championships, including the Intercontinental Title, the United States Title, the ECW World Championship, and multiple world titles.
As such, Lashley has become a big name in the world of sports entertainment. While he may not be as hot as the likes of CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, Jey Uso, LA Knight, and others, Lashley has become a star.
As a result, Triple H and WWE would be wise to want to re-sign a star of his caliber to the sports entertainment juggernaut, as the more stars available, the better. When the injury bug strikes or stars leave, you need somebody like Lashley to fill in and take a big spot.
#3. Triple H shouldn't want to risk him going to AEW
All Elite Wrestling is WWE's primary competition in the world of pro wrestling. The promotion launched in 2019 and quickly rose to become the number two company in the entire wrestling landscape.
Unfortunately for Tony Khan's AEW, the promotion has fallen quite a bit from its past heights. Their ticket sales have dramatically diminished, as have the weekly viewers on television. Even their social media and YouTube numbers appear to be lower than they have been in years, if not since the launch of the promotion.
Given that AEW is WWE's competitor, they likely don't want to see the promotion rebound from these new lows. Losing Bobby Lashley could be a risk in that regard. Given the fact that he is indeed such a big star, as previously noted, he may help the Tony Khan-led promotion recover or begin to grow again.
#2. Bobby Lashley is a veteran who can elevate others
The positives Bobby Lashley brings go beyond just being a star and a former WWE Champion; they are also related to this next point. The All-Mighty is valuable to keep around for the sake of other performers.
First and foremost, being a veteran of the industry means that Bobby Lashley can pass on his wisdom to others. This could be both on-screen and off, with The Street Profits being recent names who have benefited from being with The All-Mighty; B-Fab has benefited too.
Beyond that, thanks to his star power, WWE performers are elevated by working with Bobby and ultimately going over the big man. Carmelo Hayes, for example, would greatly benefit from being able to step in the ring with and defeat the former world champion. Numerous others get the rub from Lashley as well, so Triple H should keep him around.
#1. The All-Mighty should retire in World Wrestling Entertainment
Bobby Lashley has done a lot in and out of pro wrestling. He is a former amateur wrestler, boxer, and pro mixed martial artist. As this article has covered, he is also a former WWE Champion.
Beyond his time in WWE, Lashley has found success in other promotions, the most notable being TNA Wrestling. Still, World Wrestling Entertainment is his home. The sports entertainment juggernaut is where his career started nearly two decades ago.
Given that the company is where he started and where Lashley has found the most success, it should also be where his career ends. At 48 years old, his time in the ring is likely to end sooner rather than later. Instead of finishing up in AEW, TNA, or the Indies, his career should end in the biggest company and on the grandest stage. For that reason alone, he should be re-signed.
