Randy Orton has a tall task ahead of him at Bash in Berlin as he looks to dethrone World Heavyweight Champion Gunther to become a 15-time world champion.

The Ring General had defeated The Apex Predator to win The King of The Ring Tournament and earned a one-on-one title shot at SummerSlam. However, a controversial finish with Orton's shoulders not on the mat led to the latter demanding a rematch, which is scheduled for the upcoming PLE.

The 14-time World Champion is the clear fan-favorite heading into Berlin, with fans firmly backing Orton. However, there is reason to believe that Randy Orton will turn heel after Bash in Berlin.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

#4. Randy Orton's big-match losing streak will continue at Bash in Berlin

Considering Gunther's World Title reign is in its infancy, the WWE Universe can expect The Ring General to defeat Orton and remove the blemish over his controversial win at The King and Queen of The Ring PLE.

The loss would be devastating for The Viper, who is on an embarrassing big-match losing streak. Orton has not won a single PLE match in 2024. He has had a failed WWE Championship pursuit against Roman Reigns and an unsuccessful US Title chase against Logan Paul.

Losing to Gunther would be the nail in the coffin, pushing the veteran to his limit. Sensing a desperate change in fortunes, Orton could revert to his dark side, turn on the fan base, and become a monstrous villain.

#3. The Viper showed a lack of restraint on RAW this past week

Since Randy Orton returned from a career-threatening injury last November, he has been riding on a nostalgic wave of love and momentum. As such, Orton has remained calm, composed, and lively, but he showed glimpses of unrestrained anger on RAW this past week.

Gunther made his upcoming battle with Orton deeply personal when he brought up The Orton Family's failures, calling them "screw-ups." The Viper's expression quickly changed as he attempted to hold back his rage.

The World Heavyweight Champion ate an RKO for his words, but he brought out a side of Orton that fans hadn't seen since his return. The lack of restraint the 14-time World Champion showed was reminiscent of his character in 2009-10.

#2. There is no Kevin Owens to watch over, counsel, and protect Randy Orton

Orton has spent much of 2024 with a convenient friendship with Kevin Owens. In many ways, KO has replaced Matt Riddle in bringing out a more likable, fun-loving, and vibrant side of The Apex Predator.

However, while jumping ship to RAW, Orton left behind The Prizefighter, which could have major long-term implications for the 14-time World Champion.

The Viper is running short of allies, which Gunther could use to his advantage as he is accompanied by Ludwig Kaiser. This would stack the odds against Orton. KO also exerted a positive influence on his partner's character.

With KO removed from the equation, Orton may become the loose cannon with a questionable moral compass that tormented WWE for years.

#1. WWE may be preparing Orton for a colossal WrestleMania showdown against John Cena

When John Cena announced his farewell tour at Money in The Bank 2024, the WWE Universe began demanding one final blockbuster showdown between Cena and Orton at WrestleMania 41.

The Champ and The Viper's iconic rivalry defined the PG-Era. The dynamics were consistent throughout their storied feud. Orton was the demented and malicious villain, and Cena was portrayed as a superhero in his prime.

WWE could begin the build-up to this rumored colossal showdown soon after Bash in Berlin. Randy Orton could turn heel, run roughshod over the locker room, and wreak havoc. Eventually, The Leader of the Cenation would return to take down his greatest nemesis.
