Joe Hendry is the latest star who performed a live concert in WWE. He did it for the first time on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, during Night One of NXT The Great American Bash. Even though he put out a great performance, his live concert was interrupted by Gallus, who delivered a beatdown to him.
Joe Hendry is one of the four stars who have performed live concerts in WWE and we take a closer look at them in this article.
#4. Joe Hendry
Joe Hendry used to do live concerts in TNA Wrestling when he was the Digital Media Champion. His musical segments became quite popular and he once talked about his preparation for them.
"For the live concert (I did in TNA), that is the most pressure I’ve felt in such a long time because here’s the thing, I hadn’t played acoustic guitar since 2015. So when I was asked to do that, I had to buy an acoustic guitar and learn how to play guitar properly again because I did the guitars in my entrance song. But, I only do enough guitars to play the parts, do you know what I mean? So it’s like, I’ll literally learn, ‘What’s this solo again?’ And I’ll practice at my leisure when I’m sitting down in the studio where I can make unlimited mistakes but to actually be good enough to do a live concert," Joe Hendry said in an interview with WhatCulture Wrestling, via POST Wrestling.
Even though his first attempt did not end well, Joe Hendry is expected to continue the concert segments on NXT.
#3. Elias
Most of Elias' segments included a live concert, where he was singing songs using his guitar. Like in Joe Hendry's case, though, most of them were leading in a confrontation or a brawl with the superstars he was taking a shot at through his live concerts.
Elias, who is no longer with WWE, took to social media and reacted to Joe Hendry's debut concert performance on NXT and it appears he was not thrilled by it.
#2. John Cena
John Cena's concert performances were very different from Elias and Joe Hendry's, as he was one of the top rappers in WWE, especially in his early years with the Stamford-based company, and his Doctor of Thuganomics persona.
The Chain Gang Soldier's highlight was a segment with Chris Jericho several years ago when he was performing the "Bad, Bad Man" as part of his feud with Y2J and his band, "Fozzy."
#1. The Rock
Over the years, The Rock has made a few comebacks to WWE. Every time he returned, especially over the past few years, one of his segments used to be a concert performance.
The last time The Great One did so was during the build-up of WrestleMania XL, where he performed live during a SmackDown episode on March 15, 2024, and had a rock concert where he took shots at his WrestleMania opponents, Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes. The Final Boss' performance stole the spotlight and got high praise from the crowd in attendance.
As fans expect him to come back to WWE after taking time off due to his filming schedule, The Rock is expected to have another concert performance on SmackDown.
