Like several Superstars on the main roster, Rusev has also not seen much TV time lately and has been on an extended break as he has nothing to do on WWE television.

He spoke recently on the Lillian Garcia podcast about his frustration with his role in WWE, which may indicate that he could leave WWE
"I do want to look my best, I do want to be at my best ’cause I do want to be WWE Champion, I do want to be on top. I don’t want to be forgotten, but that’s what irks me, I do all these things but nothing changes. And that’s where the frustration comes.
"I’m just trying to do something to catch Vince McMahon’s eye, with this, with that I’m trying," said Rusev.
Rusev has a decent mid-card gimmick and WWE may not want to lose him to AEW and could perhaps bring him back to television. Maybe he returns at Clash of Champions, this time as a babyface, and takes out his former tag team partner Shinsuke Nakamura, who will defend his Intercontinental title against The Miz.
