There’s an untold flow of events in the Professional Wrestling industry – once you are past your peak, you are expected to be enhancement material for the future generations. However, this comes in a manner that every mainstream fan loses their interest in the said Superstar. After all, who would care about someone who only loses? Yes, life ain’t fair!
Having said that, there are few Superstars in WWE whose legacy in the industry far precedes this flow & deserves to end their careers on a high!
Note: Getting a ‘push’ doesn’t necessarily mean winning a title. It only indicates having a memorable run as a heel or face.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
#1 Kane
Of course, he had to be on this list! The ‘Devil’s Favourite Demon’ Kane, is one of the best products that WWE has ever come up with. Since his brilliantly narrated debut over a couple of decades ago, Kane has been a loyal servant of the WWE.
With time, he fell prey to some underwhelming & some really bad storylines (looking at you, Corporate Kane), but none of us can take anything from Glen Jacobs who gave his 100% to everything. So yes, Kane deserves one last push!
How?
The best way to honour someone in Professional Wrestling is to have them pass their torch to someone. It is a way of saying that ‘let us not leave a massive void when you decide to retire’.
Braun Strowman would have been the perfect candidate to do this, but unfortunately, the story has already been dragged on since forever. Some other interesting candidates would be SmackDown Live’s Baron Corbin, AJ Styles or WWE Raw’s Finn Balor (probably tying in the entire Balor Club).
A good storyline where Kane finally succumbs to one the mentioned stars would be a great way to end his career in a memorable manner.
#2 Big Show
The ‘World’s Largest Athlete’ is yet another WWE's longest-serving Superstars and he has followed a Kane-esque pathway while at it (maybe a little underwhelming in comparison). Like Kane, The Big Show also came to WWE after a lot of anticipation and has been flawless in his contributions ever since.
He also holds an imaginary crown of having the most heel & face turns in the history of WWE with a combined number of, well…never mind. But you just cannot deny the presence of the man in the ring. At 46, he might be older than most but has recently got shredded to the extent that Finn Balor might have taken inspiration from him if he were 20 years younger himself.
How?
Again, following the suit of Kane, The Big Show deserves to have his torch of being a giant athlete to someone who can carry on in his absence. Braun Strowman is the obvious choice.
These two literally tore down the stage & wrecked a steel cage in a near-perfect match not long ago. Probably, The Big Show could make his final return only to put in yet another classic with Braun & walk out of the arena as a fallen warrior…to the cheer of the thousands in the arena!
#3 Rhyno
Don’t let the last few years fool you. Rhyno is an ECW legend. During his NXT debut match against Elias back in 2015, the commentator said & we quote – “You haven’t seen a spear until you have seen the Gore!” No, he wasn’t over-hyping the ‘Gore’, not to the slightest bit.
Rhyno’s Gore is probably one of the best spears in WWE, often leaving the intellectual warriors in the WWE Universe wondering how the opponent can possibly not take a lethal hit from that! After all, it is like a Rhinoceros charged right at you! Scary.
How?
At 42 years of age & juggling a career in politics, it is only a matter of time before 'The Manbeast' decides to call it a day. Unfortunately, passing the torch is not an option here as right now he is not considered to be anything more than a mid-carder.
So, why not honor him with one last Intercontinental Championship run? By putting Rhyno in a programme with The Miz, we have someone who is excellent with his move set & someone else who is amazing with the mic! How?
This could be a match-up resulting after The Miztourage injures Heath Slater in a tag team match & Rhyno comes looking for revenge. But rather than going after The Miztourage, he decides to go for the leader himself. He need not hold the title for long, but it will definitely be a sweet moment to see this legend stand tall in the ring one more time! WWE, book this NOW!
#4 Jeff Hardy
At 40 years of age, Jeff Hardy might be too young for this list. In an ideal world, he should have at least 2 or 3 more mid-card runs. However, that seems unlikely at this stage. After gauging the run before his unfortunate injury & analyzing possible outcomes once he is back, we don't believe the WWE will be planning on using him as anything more than fodder.
But that’s unfair to someone who is one of the most charismatic Superstars in the history of WWE whenever the booking was good. Fans love his daredevil attitude in the ring & he has also been a part of some absolute classics in the past. His matches with The Undertaker & Rob Van Dam were received really well & as a part of The Hardy Boyz, he along with Matt absolutely killed it.
How?
This might be a long-shot, but I believe that AJ Styles should be the one to retire Jeff Hardy. Imagine this. Matt is already awoken. So, unless Jeff Hardy was to be booked into the Awoken Universe, he has no business staying at WWE Raw.
He could float around in the brand for a year or so and then, he could make a move to SmackDown Live & answer an Open Challenge by AJ Styles. This match can be interrupted by someone, thereby ending up in a no contest.
This will help build the programme for the next month or so. AJ Styles could manipulate Jeff Hardy into putting his career on the line for one last title challenge and there, the story is set. It will be great drama with the 'Awoken' Matt Hardy crossing brands to address his brother, trying to convince him to opt out of the match and so on.
However we might go about it, Jeff Hardy vs AJ Styles will definitely deliver. Inside the ring & out of it! It doesn’t matter who wins, the WWE Universe definitely will! All of this considering Jeff wants to end his career right now on a high. No puns intended.
