Most Brutal Wrestling Match

#2 Montreal Screwjob

Ente

November 9, 1997, is probably one of the most controversial days in the history of WWE. On this day, an event took place that is popularly known as the Montreal Screwjob. Bret was planning to leave for WCW, but he was still the WWF Champion. He was supposed to defend it against Shawn Michaels at Survivor Series which was suppose to end in a disqualification because Hart did not want to lose the title in Canada, his home country.

After this match, Bret would come out on Monday Night Raw and surrender his title. But, nothing of this sort happened. Shawn Michaels held Hart in the sharpshooter long enough for Hebner, the referee to call for the bell despite Hart tapping out. So, in reality, Bret never lost the title. It is the most talked about moment in the history of WWE. The events of this night caused Hart to stay away from the WWE for over a decade.
