Familiar foes Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes have agreed to form a temporary alliance at WWE Bad Blood. They are set to face The Bloodline duo of Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu at the upcoming premium live rvent.
The highly anticipated event is scheduled to take place October 5 at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. Ahead of this major showdown, Reigns and Rhodes came together for a special face-to-face confrontation at Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta.
Here are four key takeaways from their confrontation on WWE SmackDown.
#4. Roman Reigns lets Cody Rhodes know whose city Atlanta is
Atlanta, Georgia, is well known as the hometown of Cody Rhodes. However, Roman Reigns also shares a history with the city. Reigns studied at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he was a member of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football team.
During their confrontation, Reigns reminded Rhodes that he had played football at Bobby Dodd Stadium, claiming this was his city. He then questioned what Rhodes had done for Atlanta. In response, The American Nightmare said that his entire family had shed blood in this city, declaring that Atlanta may be Roman's city, but it is his home.
#3. Roman Reigns has nothing to lose
Roman Reigns questioned Cody Rhodes' decision to get involved in The Bloodline's affairs, stating that Rhodes had everything to lose while he had nothing left to lose.
Reigns explained that Solo Sikoa and the rest of The Bloodline had taken everything from him- Jimmy Uso, Paul Heyman, the Bloodline itself, and even the Ula Fala of the Tribal Chief. For the first time in a long while, Reigns said he felt a sense of having no weight on his neck.
Rhodes, however, disagreed with Reigns' perspective. He pointed out that there was already a Tribal Chief in WWE in Solo Sikoa and an Undisputed WWE Champion as well. Rhodes challenged Reigns, asking where that leaves him if he can't even take down his own Bloodline.
#2. Cody Rhodes wants Roman Reigns' word for WWE Bad Blood
Cody Rhodes is taking a significant risk by agreeing to team up with Roman Reigns against the formidable Bloodline at Bad Blood. During their confrontation, Rhodes sought Reigns' assurance, asking for his word that he would have Cody's back so Cody could do the same for him.
The Original Tribal Chief paused momentarily, considering the request, before ultimately telling Cody he would have his back in their upcoming battle against The Bloodline.
#1. Cody Rhodes is in Roman Reigns' way
While Roman Reigns agreed to have Cody Rhodes' back at Bad Blood, he made it clear that once it's over, he's coming for what he believes is rightfully his—the Undisputed WWE Championship, currently held by Rhodes.
As Reigns was about to leave, Rhodes cut him off, telling him that the title wasn't his for the taking. In response, Reigns said that Rhodes was standing in his way "in life" before walking away.
It will be interesting to see how this unlikely alliance develops in the weeks to come.
