Money in the Bank 2024 is in the history books! Operating on Triple H's quality over quantity principle, the premium live event was a solid show with its fair share of surprises and thrilling matches.

Five matches took place on the card in Toronto, including two Money in the Bank Ladder matches and a World Heavyweight Championship match between Damian Priest and Seth "Freakin" Rollins. Local favorite, Sami Zayn, also defended his Intercontinental Championship against Bron Breakker.

The main event saw The Bloodline take on the babyface squad of Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Kevin Owens. Furthermore, John Cena also made an unannounced appearance to cut an emotional promo.

Let's look at four things WWE got right at Money in the Bank 2024.

Corey Graves deleted his Tweet! More details HERE.

#4. The Men's Money in the Bank Ladder match showcased the right competitors

The premium live event started with the Men's Money in the Bank Ladder match, which saw Drew McIntyre unhook the briefcase. Although McIntyre was the winner, he wasn't the match's star, which was the correct decision.

The Scottish Warrior is an established talent on the main roster. While he may have needed the win, the melee didn't have to revolve around him due to his veteran status. On the contrary, Carmelo Hayes and Andrade needed more of the spotlight.

All six men were brilliant as they kept the crowd on the edge of its seats. However, this was the first time casual fans got an extended taste of Carmelo Hayes and Andrade upon his return earlier in the year. WWE needed to get the two SmackDown stars over with Toronto.

Hayes and Andrade stole the show. The former AEW star executed a jaw-dropped Inverted Spanish Fly onto a ladder that still has fans buzzing. The Sunset-Flip Powerbomb towards the end of the match was the highlight of the match.

Meanwhile, Melo was seen flying around the ring, persevering through tremendous punishment. The jumping Clothesline on Andrade was also a thing of beauty. Both men came out looking like stars in defeat. Casual fans now have a sense of their talent, which will enhance their credibility in the future.

#3. Sami Zayn retaining against Bron Breakker was an understandable move

The finish to the Intercontinental Championship match at Money in the Bank 2024 has received a mixed response from fans. Sami Zayn, the underdog, and heavy fan-favorite, went over the unstoppable Bron Breakker.

Breakker had been built like a rabid dog with Michael Cole calling him "The Unpredictable Bada*s," a testament to his ferociousness and dominance. However, Zayn pinned the challenger to retain the championship, which was an understandable booking decision.

Breakker may need some grooming before holding a major championship on the main roster. WWE needs to work on his character development and allow the former NXT star to grow as a storyteller rather than a pure fighting machine.

Zayn's title reign has been remarkable. Thus, WWE naturally wanted to extend it, at least till SummerSlam.

#2. John Cena's retirement tease made the Post-PLE press conference must-see

The Cenation received some tough news as John Cena returned at Money in the Bank to announce his retirement plans. The Champ announced that he would retire from in-ring competition in 2025, but left much doubt about the specifics of his farewell tour while the show aired.

Cena declared his intention to retire to Toronto but didn't fill the fans in on the details. The 16-time World Champion saved that for the post-show press conference, forcing the WWE Universe to tune in upon the conclusion of the show.

This was a smart move. Press conferences often feature cliche Triple H interviews and reflections by superstars on the night's most significant moments. Cena's interaction with the journalists was noteworthy and different, and WWE should explore similar avenues next time.

#1. Solo Sikoa pinned Cody Rhodes at Money in the Bank

In the presence of two Money in the Bank Ladder matches and a marquee World Heavyweight Title clash, WWE still booked the Six-Man Tag Team Match as the main event of Money in the Bank 2024.

The goal of the match was clear: Triple H wanted "The New Bloodline" to feel credible to the live audience, especially Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu. The new Tribal Chief received a massive boost when he pinned Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes, in the middle of the ring.

This should build Sikoa's credibility, increasing the threat he poses to Rhodes and the Undisputed WWE Championship. Considering his poor win-loss record, the win was much needed.
