RAW produced a superb show this week as it was an action-packed episode with some astounding bouts. After a great show last week, WWE certainly managed to continue their good run. In all honesty, the three-hour show has become enjoyable in recent weeks and it could be the Paul Heyman effect.
Since King of Ring began this week, two matches of the tournament took place on RAW. Cedric Alexander and Samoa Joe won their respective first-round matches. The Women's Tag-Team champions Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross beat Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose, while Roman Reigns defeated Dolph Ziggler.
Sasha Banks assaulted an injured Natalya again. Furthermore, Randy Orton dismantled The New Day after joining hands with The Revival. Interestingly, the RAW Tag-Team Titles changed hands as Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman won the twin belts. The Fiend showed up and attacked the WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler.
Let's discuss four things WWE made clear on the Red Brand this week.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
#4 We will see the Women's Tag-Team Titles regularly
Since winning the Women's Tag Team Titles two weeks ago, Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross have been impressive. Unlike the previous champions, Bliss and Cross are proving to be fighting champions. They faced the team of Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville on RAW this week as the champions were victorious.
When the Women's Tag-Team Titles were introduced earlier this year, the anticipation was high. However, the IIconics had a substandard title reign as they didn't defend the belts regularly. Billie Kay and Peyton didn't show up on RAW and SmackDown Live every week. As a matter of fact, they never put the titles on the line in a pay-per-view following their victory at WrestleMania 35.
After winning the titles, Bliss and Cross already put the belts on the line at SummerSlam. Last week, they defended the belts against the Kabuki Warriors, while they faced Fire & Desire in a non-title match this week. It's safe to say that the twin belts will be defended regularly and we will see the Women's Tag Team Champions every week.
#3 The Revival will be the next title challengers for The New Day
While The Revival were the Wild Card entrants on SmackDown Live last week, the New Day appeared on RAW through Wild Card Rule this week. The two teams faced each other in a non-title match. It was a decent bout but the match was cut short by Randy Orton who delivered an RKO out of nowhere to Big E.
Following the attack of Orton, WWE Champion Kofi Kingston showed up to save his friends but he was also assaulted by Orton and The Revival. The Viper showed his sadistic side again when he forced Kingston to watch the assault on Xavier Woods.
It is clear that Randy Orton will get a rematch against Kingston which could take place at Clash of Champions. The Revival, on the other hand, have been fighting the SmackDown Tag-Team Champions from last week, hence, they are likely to be next challengers for Xavier Woods and Big E.
The Revival, who are the former RAW Tag Team Champions, never won the twin blue belts. Apart from Heavy Machinery, SmackDown Live doesn't have a credible tag team to challenge the current champions as Daniel Bryan and Erick Rowan are involved in a different storyline.
#2 Sasha Banks is the biggest threat for Becky Lynch since winning the title
Last week, Sasha Banks' return to the squared circle was the talking point of RAW. The arrival of The Boss has given a massive boost to RAW Women's division and Becky Lynch might have her biggest threat till date. Though the two women didn't confront each other on RAW, things got heated this week.
After winning the main event at WrestleMania 35, The Man has been on a roll. She defended the RAW Women's Title against two opponents. Lacey Evans, who had her first main roster feud with Becky Lynch, was highly impressive but she didn't seem like a big obstacle for The Man. Also, Natalya didn't possess a serious threat at SummerSlam. However, the return of Sasha Banks has altered the scenario and the heel turn has raised the bar.
When Banks was in NXT, she had a stupendous run as a heel. Banks is a natural heel and it brings the best out of her. Banks attacked Natalya this week and she also took a shot at her dead father to show her evil persona. Banks is a four-time RAW Women's Champion and she dominated Lynch in their past encounters. Without a shadow of a doubt, Banks has a bright possibility to dethrone Lynch, especially as a heel.
#1 Braun Strowman will turn on Seth Rollins
We witnessed a shocking incident on RAW this week as the RAW Tag-Team Titles changed hands. Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson defended the twin belts against Braun Strowman and Seth Rollins in the main event of the night. Though AJ Styles tried to help his buddies, it didn't work as Strowman pinned Karl Anderson to win the match.
Earlier, the US Championship match between Strowman and Styles ended in no contest, due to the interference from Gallows & Strowman. The numbers game caught the Monster among Men who was viciously assaulted by The OC until Seth Rollins came out to rescue.
Considering Strowman kept looking at the Universal Title on RAW, he could be eyeing the belt. Rollins also noticed it and he assured him a title shot. If Strowman becomes the next Universal Title challenger, they are unlikely to remain the RAW Tag Team Championship for a long time. Judging by the storyline, Strowman could turn on Rollins sooner or later and it could lead to a Universal Championship match.
