Fastlane was a fantastic pay-per-view where some remarkable matches took place. Though it did not have any jaw-dropping bout, every match was praiseworthy. Several titles were on the line in Cleveland, but no title changed hands.
Since it was the last PPV before WrestleMania 35, the ultimate storyline for the biggest spectacle of the year will develop following Fastlane.
Considering we are less than one month away from the Show of Shows, the Raw and Smackdown episodes are bound to be mind-boggling. There is no denying that RAW produced an astounding show this week and Smackdown Live repeated the same feat.
Smackdown Live was held at the Wright State University Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio. The blue brand provided some prodigious bouts and some blockbuster announcements for the Grandest Stage of Them All.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Here we discuss four things WWE secretly told us on Smackdown Live this week.
#4 The IIconics could challenge the Boss N Hug Connection at WrestleMania 35
The inaugural Women's Tag Team Champions, Boss N Hug Connection, defended the twin titles against Nia Jax and Tamina at Fastlane. They overpowered the team of Nia Jax and Tamina in Cleveland, and they are searching for next challengers. The IIconics could be next opponents of the current Women Tag Team Champions, and they could tussle at the Show of Shows.
Bayley and Sasha Banks grabbed the twin belts after defeating five other teams at Elimination Chamber. Subsequently, they promised to defend the belts against any team from RAW, Smackdown Live or even NXT. As a matter of fact, they also appeared on the NXT shows. With the appearance of Natalya and Beth Pheonix at Fastlane, there could be several contenders for the Boss N Hug Connection in New Jersey.
The IIconics had a backstage segment on Smackdown Live this week where Peyton Royce and Billie Kay took a shot at Sasha Banks and Bayley. The IIconics had a notable run in NXT, and they could be set for their biggest bout at WrestleMania 35.
#3 The number one contender for Smackdown Tag Team Titles could be decided in a multi-team Tag Team match
The Smackdown Tag Team division has become exciting, with several potential contenders for the Grandest Stage of Them All. The Tag Team Champions The Usos retained the twin belts at Fastlane where they fought Shane McMahon and Miz. With the heel turn of Shane McMahon in Cleveland, the former champions will not compete in the tag team division.
The Usos had a backstage promo on Smackdown Live where they gave a severe warning to every tag team of the blue brand. The twin brothers pointed out the Hardy Boyz, and they are eager to put their belts on the line against any team at the Show of Shows. Currently, five teams could become the number one challenger for the Usos.
The New Day interfered the Eight-Man Tag Team match when the team of Ricochet, Aleister Black and Hardy Boyz clashed with the team of Shinsuke Nakamura, Rusev and the Bar. The match was ended in no contest after the New Day got involved, but the five teams could compete against each other on Smackdown Live next week. The winner could become the number one contender for the Usos in New Jersey.
#2 Randy Orton and AJ Styles are set for a blockbuster bout at WrestleMania 35
With AJ Styles attacking Randy Orton at Fastlane, the rivalry was hinted for the Show of Shows. Randy Orton and AJ Styles had a fierce segment on Smackdown Live this week, and the two men are set to collide in New Jersey. There is no denying that the two veterans have the potential to steal the show at the Grandest Stage of Them All next month.
The segment was undoubtedly one of the best moments of the Smackdown Live this week. Orton entered the ring and stated that it is not clear how Smackdown Live is the house that AJ Styles built.
The thirteen-time WWE World Champion also mocked Styles' independent background and how it took him years to set foot in WWE. The Phenomenal One gave a fitting reply, and he offered a match at the Showcase of Immortals.
With the astounding segment this week, the match has already provoked interest in the WWE Universe. The two men collided once in the past when the Viper overpowered the Phenomenal One.
#1 Kofi Kingston might conquer the insurmountable challenge next week
The New Day members have become the focal point of Smackdown Live as they are involved in the Smackdown Tag Team storyline and the WWE Title storyline. Vince McMahon removed Kofi Kingston from the WWE Title match and Kevin Owen replaced the New Day member at Fastlane.
Xavier Woods and Big E demanded a WWE Championship match for Kofi Kingston on Smackdown Live, but Vince McMahon gave an impossibl task to Kingston. The Chairman announced that Kingston could get a title shot at the Show of Shows if he manages to beat Randy Orton, Samoa Joe, The Bar, and Erick Rowan in a Gauntlet match.
In fact, Kingston's remarkable performance at the Elimination Chamber made him a fan favourite in recent weeks. Moreover, the New Day member also participated in a Gauntlet match where he pinned the WWE Champion Daniel Bryan and Samoa Joe before being pinned by AJ Styles.
It might look like an insuperable task for Kingston, but he could manage to make history next week. There is no denying that WWE is building Kingston as a new underdog who can reach the top of the ladder after beating all the odds.
The storyline could be similar to Daniel Bryan's rise to the top when he defeated Triple H, Batista and Randy Orton in the same night at WrestleMania 30. Similar to Bryan, Vince McMahon also called Kingston a B+ player.
