4-time champion to return as John Cena's last act to spite Roman Reigns on SmackDown? Exploring the possibility

John Cena confronting Roman Reigns on an edition of SmackDown
John Cena and Roman Reigns has a lot of history.

Roman Reigns returned to WWE two SmackDowns ago, and yet there are many matters that need to be addressed. His longtime rival, John Cena, is reportedly wrapping up his WWE return, with October 27 likely to be his last stop.

Cena confronted The Tribal Chief upon his return by introducing LA Knight as the next challenger for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. In addition to reports on the Hollywood strike coming to a conclusion and the 16-time World Champion teasing retirement on numerous occasions, he might be looking to hang up his wrestling boots for good.

Roman Reigns' faction is in ruins despite Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa seemingly considering him as the leader. Jey Uso moved to RAW, but the tension between him and his brother is still prominent to the extent that Jimmy cost him the Tag Titles last week. John Cena has also had his fair share of confrontations and brawls with Solo Sikoa.

Over the past year, John Cena has only competed in tag team matches. He even took to SmackDown to announce his unfortunate record of being unable to win a singles match for over 2000 days. He's made alliances with many notable WWE legends, and The Cenation Leader could bring back Rikishi as a parting gift to spite Roman Reigns and whatever remains of The Bloodline.

A top AEW star just called one of his colleagues 'spoiled' and 'narcissistic' HERE.

Rikishi and Cena feuded in the early to mid-2000s. The Hall of Famer has kept a watchful eye on events involving his family members and has even teased an appearance on multiple occasions.

The current WWE Champion also came face to face with former nemesis Cody Rhodes a couple of weeks ago. The American Nightmare is seemingly not done with The Bloodline and "his story" amidst rumors of the two clashing again at WrestleMania 40.

Roman Reigns needs to be extra wary at Crown Jewel 2023

The Judgment Day and The Bloodline forged an alliance in Roman Reigns' absence. Paul Heyman 'authorized' the decision put forth by Rhea Ripley.

Despite the two factions working together, the WWE Champion needs to keep an eye on Damian Priest. Senor Money in the Bank could be lurking in the shadows at Crown Jewel to cash in his contract on a vulnerable Tribal Chief. Up until now, Priest has only hinted at going after the World Heavyweight Championship on RAW.

Roman Reigns has a long road ahead of him. WWE reportedly has a vested interest in him surpassing all title records, and his reign is expected to remain across the majority of next year.
