The Rock and John Cena had an encounter at Wrestlemania 28

The Rock and John Cena had a storied rivalry that would culminate in two consecutive WrestleMania main events from 2012 to 2013. However, their first encounter had the entire WWE Universe so invested because it was billed as a “once in a lifetime” match. The rivalry leading to Wrestlemania 28 was so intense that the promos both of these two icons cut became a personal affair.

On the March 5 episode of RAW, which took place in Cena’s hometown of Boston, The Rock and Cena engaged in a war of words. The Rock kept saying he was going to “rip Cena’s throat out at WrestleMania” and the fans slowly began cheering for Cena instead. While The Rock was pointing his finger at Cena, the crowd began chanting “tooth fairy” to the now Hollywood star at the delight of the Doctor of Thuganomics. This surprised even Cena himself who had always been booed by his hometown audience.
