Drama both in front and outside the ring is common in the wrestling world, and some of the biggest ones occur in WWE. The Stamford-based promotion has been involved in several controversies in their decades of operation, and some of them even saw their own stars walk out of the company.

There have been several walkouts in WWE throughout the years, and even some of its most legendary names took part in them. While some returned to the Stamford-based promotion, others didn't and went to different wrestling promotions. The most infamous one is probably CM Punk in 2014, but a few more also occurred before and after that.

For this list, we will look at four WWE Superstars who walked out from the company.

#4. and #3. Sasha Banks and Naomi walked out from WWE in 2022

On the May 16, 2022, episode of WWE RAW, it was announced that the main event for that match was altered as Sasha Banks and Naomi walked out during the episode after creative differences in their character. In December of that year, it was announced that they had officially left the company after reported failed compensations.

Both women ended up in different companies after walking out. Sasha went on to be known as Mercedes Mone and worked in NJPW/Stardom from the beginning and end of 2023. Meanwhile, Naomi became known as Trinity and joined TNA in April 2023 until January 2024.

Both stars are in different companies again as of this writing. Naomi has since returned to WWE at the beginning of 2024, while Mercedes joined AEW in March of that same year.

#2. Stone Cold Steve Austin walked out in 2002

One of the biggest stars in wrestling history is arguably Stone Cold Steve Austin, whose name remains relevant and well-known years after he retired. However, despite being one of the biggest stars in the company, he walked out before a RAW episode in 2002.

Issues between the company and Austin began in the lead-up to WrestleMania X8. Steve was supposed to face Hulk Hogan for the event, but The Rattlesnake reportedly turned down the match and faced Scott Hall instead, whom he defeated. At the RAW episode after the event, Stone Cold was absent for a week, but this wasn't the end of his clash with the promotion.

In June of that year, Austin was supposed to face Brock Lesnar in a King of the Ring qualifying match with the former losing. Steve refused and walked out of the company. He cited that he had no problems putting over the future of the company, but how WWE did it with no build.

Stone Cold returned almost a year later and retired from full-time wrestling in 2003 due to injury. Though, he has returned for sporadic appearances throughout the years and even a match in 2022.

#1. Gail Kim walked out in the middle of a match

While the majority of the walkouts in this list happened before a show, Gail Kim is a unique case as it happened during the episode while she was having a match on RAW.

In a 2011 episode of RAW, Gail was part of a Women's Battle Royal. During this, she eliminated herself and walked out of the company, announcing on her social media not long after about her exit. In a recent interview, she cited issues with Vince McMahon as the reason for her departure.

In that same year, she returned to TNA where she remained up to this day. She had her retirement match in 2018 and works as a producer for TNA. Despite issues with the Stamford-based promotion, she was recently seen watching NXT Battleground 2024 in the audience.
