The life of a wrestler is not easy, especially for WWE Superstars, as they have to constantly travel away from family and much more. While on the road, stars often develop close bonds with co-workers and, sometimes, those bonds evolve into romantic relationships.

Over the years, we have seen many wrestling couples in the business. However, not every love story reaches a happy ending. Fans have seen many of their favorite wrestling couples split up in recent years. In this article, we will look at some WWE couples who got engaged but eventually called off their engagement and ended their relationship.

#4. WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella and John Cena

John Cena started dating Nikki Bella in 2012. The couple was featured in multiple reality TV series, including Total Divas and Total Bellas.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

In 2017, John Cena and Nikki Bella worked together on WWE TV and started feuding with The Miz and his wife Maryse on the Road to WrestleMania 33. At The Show of Shows, Cena and Bella defeated the IT couple, and following the bout, the 16-time World Champion proposed to the former Divas Champion in front of more than 75,000 fans at Camping World Stadium.

Everything seemed perfect before the couple shockingly announced their split in 2018 and called off their engagement. According to a report by Entertainment Tonight, they decided to take different paths because they had different wishes for their lives.

#3. Carmella and Big Cass

Former SmackDown Women's Champion Carmella is currently married to WWE commentator Corey Graves. Before dating Graves, she was in a relationship with Big Cass (FKA Big Bill in AEW).

The duo apparently started dating in 2014 during their time in NXT. They were allegedly engaged and even bought a house together in 2017. However, the couple called it quits just a few months later. Mella revealed the reason on an episode of Total Divas.

Following their breakup, WWE released Big Cass in 2018 after a physical altercation backstage with Mella, during which Cass grabbed her arm as she was walking away.

#2. Alexa Bliss and Buddy Matthews

Alexa Bliss began her career in WWE in 2013. During her NXT days, she briefly managed the team of Buddy Murphy (FKA Buddy Matthews in AEW) and Wesley Blake. Bliss and Matthews started dating in 2015 and soon got engaged.

However, the couple called off their engagement in 2018. In a Q&A on X/Twitter, the 33-year-old star said that while she and Matthews had broken up, they still shared pets and were good friends.

In 2024, both Alexa and Buddy have moved on in life. Bliss is married to musician Ryan Cabrera, and they welcomed their baby girl together last year. Meanwhile, this year, Matthews tied the knot with his long-time girlfriend and former Women's World Champion Rhea Ripley.

#1. Former NXT Women's Champion Mandy Rose and Michael Lubic

On November 2, 2024, Mandy Rose tied the knot with her long-time boyfriend and former WWE Superstar, Tino Sabbatelli.

Before dating Sabbatelli, Rose had been in a long-term relationship and engaged for a brief period. In 2015, Mandy Rose participated in WWE Tough Enough with her then-boyfriend, Michael Lubic. The couple got engaged before Rose entered professional wrestling in 2016.

During an interview on After The Bell, Mandy Rose revealed Lubic was a big wrestling fan, and he motivated her to pursue a career in professional wrestling. A few months after their engagement, the duo announced a split, unfollowed each other on social media, and deleted all posts of them together.
