In 2025, John Cena will return to WWE to begin his retirement tour from in-ring wrestling. As it will be his final moments inside the ring, the selected few he will get to share the ring with should be special and even well-known, but that doesn't mean all of the company's top stars should be able to participate.
At Money in the Bank 2024, John Cena announced that 2025 will be his final year as an in-ring superstar in WWE. Since then, stars like Cody Rhodes and CM Punk have shown interest in stepping into the ring against The Cenation Leader for one last time. Fans also voiced strong support for Randy Orton his final opponent. While Cena has rivaled many legends over his career, some shouldn't be revisited for next year.
For this list, we will look at four WWE Superstars John Cena shouldn't face in his retirement tour in 2025.

#4. The Rock and John Cena already had their moment
The Rock and John Cena's rivalry in the 2010s has brought in many wrestling fans and while it may have mixed reactions now, it was definitely the biggest rivalry in the past. The duo even momentarily revisited this after a face-off at WrestleMania XL. With that being said, their time is already up.
Both men have already faced each other twice, both at the main events of WrestleMania. Also, Dwayne Johnson now has newer and better stars to face in terms of his storyline, Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes. Due to this, it's enough for both men to acknowledge their history at this year's 'Mania.
#3. Roman Reigns vs John Cena already happened
Like The Rock, John and Roman Reigns have a long history in WWE remembered by fans with intense segments and matches, both during the latter's Big Dog and Tribal Chief era. With this in mind, there's no more use to see both stars clash.
Roman already has an ongoing storyline with Cody, The Rock, and Solo Sikoa's Bloodline and many are already looking forward to what they have in store for next year's WrestleMania.
#2. Goldberg will also retire next year
Many thought that Goldberg would permanently retire from wrestling in 2022, but the Hall of Famer recently shared that he will retire next year. A lot of names are also good opponents for him, but John Cena shouldn't be one of them.
For the WCW legend, he should just simply focus on younger stars to put over or even pass the torch to. Based on recent events, Gunther is the perfect candidate for this as John will not gain anything big from wrestling Goldberg and vice versa.
#1. John Cena and Bray Wyatt's history shouldn't be tied with Uncle Howdy
John and Bray Wyatt had a notable history in WWE. Both men initially faced off at WrestleMania XXX where the former won and again at WrestleMania 36 in a Firefly Funhouse match, with the latter winning as The Fiend.
There is no reason for Uncle Howdy to face John unless the latter turned heel by betraying somebody. If the feud between them revolves around Bray and trying another concept match, it might not work, especially since the Firefly Funhouse match doesn't need improvement or changes.
