Character changes are commonplace in WWE and are often put into place to change a superstar's fortunes. A heel turn, face turn, or a completely new gimmick could provide the boost a struggling star needs to get their career back on track.
Kevin Owens' recent heel turn is a prime example of the potential benefits of a character change. KO's antics and viciousness have made him a must-see act and enhanced his credibility.
In 2025, many stars could follow suit to revive their careers. On that note, let's look at four superstars who need a character change in the upcoming months.
A top AEW star just called one of his colleagues 'spoiled' and 'narcissistic' HERE.
#4. Andrade may need to turn heel to change his fortunes
Following a run in AEW, Andrade returned to WWE in the 2024 Men's Royal Rumble match. El Idolo's run has not been a total disappointment, but he hasn't set the world on fire.
Andrade failed to win the Men's Money in the Bank briefcase in July. He relentlessly pursued the United States Championship, but couldn't win the title. The Mexican star has, thus, not realized his true potential.
A heel turn could make more matters more interesting. El Idolo has maintained a respectful character, but embracing his dark, villainous side could change his fortunes.
Giving him a manager could compensate for his deficient promo skills, helping establish a connection with the WWE Universe. With a comprehensive plan, he could become the US Champion.
#3. Former WWE United States Champion Austin Theory could benefit from a face turn
Austin Theory seems to have hit a rough patch in The Paul Levesque Era. 2024, especially the second half, was particularly underwhelming for the former United States Champion.
A-Town Down Under has been reduced to a comedic heel act that elevates top babyfaces. Furthermore, Grayson Waller has let Theory take most of the bullets for the team, and WWE has been teasing a split for a while.
In 2025, Theory could finally break free from Waller to become a babyface. If done correctly, the star's popularity could soar to new heights, and he may find himself in the upper mid-card again.
#2. Uncle Howdy could bring back The Black Sheep
Bray Wyatt introduced Braun Strowman to the WWE Universe as The Black Sheep. Strowman's run with The Wyatt Family laid the foundation for a successful singles run as The Monster Among Men.
Lately, Strowman has not had the best of times. His jovial, babyface character has not done him much favors. Important wins haven't come by, and Strowman has lost to rising names like Carmelo Hayes.
Sensing frustration and disappointment, Uncle Howdy could pursue Strowman and convince him to return to his old roots as Bray Wyatt's Black Sheep. Needless to say, Strowman's inclusion in The Wyatt Sicks would not only revive his career but add significant star power to the group.
#1. Seth 'Freakin' Rollins needs to join forces with Drew McIntyre
2024 was not kind to Seth Rollins. Marred by injuries, Rollins still fought tooth and nail to help Cody Rhodes finish his story and end Roman Reigns' tyrannical run.
Unfortunately, his efforts soon went into vain as Reigns returned over the summer and reunited with The OG Bloodline. Furthermore, The Visionary's arch-nemesis, CM Punk, kept meddling in Rollins' business and rose to the top of the WWE mountain.
Recently, Drew McIntyre proposed an alliance with Rollins, but the inaugural World Heavyweight Champion turned down the offer. In the coming months, The Visionary should take up McIntyre on his previous proposal.
Given the sacrifices he made, Rollins has every right to be upset with The OG Bloodline reunion and Reigns' redemption arc. McIntyre also has the common ultimate goal of eradicating The OTC, which is why an alliance with The Architect of The Shield makes sense.
