LA Knight dethroned Logan Paul to become the new United States Champion. Lately, he has been working matches with Carmelo Hayes and Andrade, and now he will be the special guest referee for Hayes vs. Andrade on WWE SmackDown. However, The Megastar's work as a special guest referee might come at a cost.

Shinsuke Nakamura is reportedly returning to WWE television on this week's episode of SmackDown. Lately, Nakamura has worked several house shows against The Megastar, and WWE might bring that to television this Friday.

The 44-year-old WWE veteran could attack the United States Champion during the match, which might hamper his ability to count to three, costing either Hayes or Andrade the victory. This could lead to a brawl between all four superstars on SmackDown, and General Manager Nick Aldis might be forced to book a Fatal Four-Way to restore peace.

Furthermore, attacking one of WWE's most popular babyfaces would enable him to put himself on the map immediately upon returning to WWE television. The match could be booked for either Crown Jewel or WWE SmackDown, whichever seems suitable for the United States Championship match.

Wrestling veteran expresses frustration over LA Knight's current storyline

WWE has put The Megastar in angles with Carmelo Hayes and Andrade for the last couple of weeks. As the United States Champion, he might have been more suitable for storylines with stars who are on par with him.

Former manager and wrestling veteran Jim Cornette expressed his frustration about Knight's booking, claiming that it did not help The Megastar at all.

"My takeaway was dealing with these two f*cking schlubs does nothing for LA Knight. He got so over, and everybody else was so over. He was interacting with other people that were so over. Now he's stuck here with these cretins,"

It will be interesting to see what is next for LA Knight and how long he can retain the championship against the rising superstars.
