WWE is currently experiencing a boom period. One of the main reasons for the huge success is due to the number of main event stars the company has been able to establish.
However, there are still several major stars who are currently out of action, and whose absence has been felt. WWE will aim to bring all its top stars back as they approach the end of 2024, leading into The Road to WrestleMania 41, which officially kicks off with the 2025 Royal Rumble.
Here are five WWE stars fans miss the most and when they’re likely to return.
#5. Shinsuke Nakamura
The last time Shinsuke Nakamura appeared on television was during an episode of RAW several months ago in a match against Sheamus. He was later drafted to SmackDown but has been out of action since.
Fans have speculated whether an injury is behind his absence, but it turns out The King of Strong Style is completely fine and has been regularly competing at house shows.
According to reports, WWE currently doesn’t have any creative plans for him. However, he could return later this year to add some excitement to SmackDown's mid-card division.
#4. Jimmy Uso
Jimmy Uso has been out of action since being attacked by The Bloodline, led by Solo Sikoa. At the time, news emerged that Jimmy was legitimately injured, and the attack was used as a way to write him off television.
According to his legendary father, Rikishi, Jimmy has recovered from the injury and is ready to return. He will be expected to make his comeback very soon, possibly before the Survivor Series Premium Live Event in November.
#3. Charlotte Flair
Charlotte Flair tore her ACL, MCL, and meniscus in late 2023 and has been sidelined since. The 14-time women's champion is one of WWE's top attractions, and the company will be eager to have her back as soon as possible.
However, according to recent reports, she has yet to be cleared for in-ring action. Given the severity of her injury, sources believe it will be difficult for her to return in 2024. But if there’s one superstar capable of overcoming the odds, it’s Charlotte Flair. The most likely scenario for The Queen's highly anticipated return would be at the 2025 Royal Rumble.
#2. Seth Rollins
Despite a year marred by injuries, Seth Rollins emerged as the MVP of WrestleMania 40. He returned to action ahead of the Money in the Bank Premium Live Event, where he challenged Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship.
It seemed he was set for a program with CM Punk after costing Punk the win against Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam. However, in a shocking turn of events, Rollins was sidelined after Bronson Reed brutally attacked him during an episode of RAW following SummerSlam.
It was later revealed that Rollins was still dealing with chronic knee issues, prompting WWE to give him time off to heal. The Visionary will be expected to make his return very soon, possibly at the Saturday Night's Live Event on December 14, for which he has been advertised.
#1. The Rock
One of the major talking points in professional wrestling in 2024 was the return of The Rock. His transition to The Final Boss saw him emerge as one of the best heels in recent times and was a significant factor in the success of WrestleMania 40.
WWE will be looking to have him back in time for WrestleMania 41 and The Rock too will aim to complete his other commitments outside the ring soon. The perfect destination for his return could be the season premiere of Monday Night RAW on Netflix in January, 2025.
