5 Actors who can play Chris Benoit in his biopic

The Biopic is back on track

After being on the shelf for years, the biopic of Chris Benoit seems to be heading in the right direction. The film got a new director on board, and fans will be eager to get into theatres and relive all those memorable moments that Benoit gave along with some closure regarding his tragic death.

While the director was announced for the project, further details are yet to be revealed including the lead actor who will play Chris Benoit. It would be a challenging role that needs some great dedication.

Also, the directors need to find an actor who looks similar to the Rabid Wolverine. In this slide, we are going to take a look at some of the actors from Hollywood that could take up the role.

#5 Taylor Lautner

The role could be a career changer for him

This might not be a popular choice, but from certain angles, Taylor Lautner does have similarities with the Rabid Wolverine. The acting skills of Taylor might be a concern, but if we look back, he is yet to have a breakout performance apart from Twilight. The story of Chris Benoit, meanwhile, has written success all over it, as far as an actor is concerned.

The potential for someone to showcase their talent in this role is endless and this is why Taylor could fit in.

Playing Chris Benoit could be a career milestone for the young actor but at the same time, it is a huge risk for him as the wrestling fans, in particular, are quite unforgiving.

#4 Jason Bateman

Age is the only barrier

This is another actor that has unavoidable similarities with Chris Benoit as far as facial looks are concerned. Like most of the people on this list, Bateman also has a solid resume in Hollywood.

He has appeared in films like Juno, Hancock, Up in the Air and Horrible Bosses. But he is mostly known for his stay in the television scene.

At the age of 47, it would be a tough role for Bateman to crack. Coming up with the physique for the Benoit character would be another big concern for the actor. But as mentioned earlier, the facial similarities get Bateman a place in the list.

#3 Michael Hall

Dexter anyone?

When the talk about Chris Benoit’s Biopic poked up, Michael Hall was one of the actors that were linked with the projects.

Though these were rumours, it is understandable why Hall was considered for the role. Hall, who has appeared in Hollywood flicks like Paycheck, Gamer and a few others, had his career breakthrough thanks to the television series Dexter.

Hall played the lead character and it was a cult hit. Hall reportedly turned down the role as he didn’t want to be type-cast as a killer. But that does not mean we can completely rule out the possibility of Hall playing Benoit in the biopic.

#2 Liam McIntyre

Potential breakthrough

Another name linked with the biopic, Liam McIntyre might not be a high-profile name on the list. However, the 34-year-old Australian actor has enough skills in him to take up the challenging role.

As it is a chance to turn his career around, the chances of McIntyre rejecting roles are low. His most notable work till date is the lead role he played in series Spartacus: Vengeance and Spartacus: War of the Damned.

McIntyre also has the looks that are mostly needed to play the role and if groomed well, he could give a performance worth remembering for the wrestling fans and the moviegoers.

#1 Liev Schreiber

The guy that everyone wants to see

Liev Schreiber was one of the most notable names that were rumoured to play Chris Benoit in the biopic. The American actor is known mostly for his roles in the Scream franchise, X: Men Origins Wolverine, Salt and many other films. The 49-year-old has a string of similarities with Benoit physically as well, making him an apt name for the role.

The fact that he is a celebrated name in Hollywood is also bound to attract tonnes of mainstream attention that the Chris Benoit biopic deserves. Schreiber had earlier rejected the rumours but in the wrestling business, we never say never.

In fact, he is the best person that the film-makers could find for the role due to the amount of commitment he has for all the characters he takes up.
