She's new to a lot of WWE fans, but Alexa Bliss has achieved a lot in her short lifetime. Since debuting through the WWE draft, Bliss has embarked on an unprecedented rise to stardom, comfortably becoming the most talked about female on Tuesday nights.
Despite not being as pushed as her counterparts on Raw, Bliss has become a clear focal point of SmackDown and produced better matches than Banks & Charlotte already. She has everything, the look, the ability, the personality and the presence of a star.
Despite being the no.1 contender to the SmackDown Women's Championship Alexa is still a relatively unknown entity. So we at SportsKeeda felt this would be the perfect time to shed a little light on the 25-year old. You already know that Bliss bases her in-ring attire off of DC character Harley Quinn, but here are five amazing things you don't know about her...
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
#5 She almost died because of a disorder
In the past, Bliss has only opened up about her childhood on a few occasions. And when she has, she's revealed some incredible things. During her teenage years, there was a point in time, where she struggled to monitor her body weight. Like most young girls at that age, she became self-conscious about her body.
This state of mind led her to develop an eating disorder, and it had monumental effects on her health. One night, her disorder got so bad that her heart rate dropped drastically down to 28bpm, she was rushed to the hospital where a team of doctors, by her own admission, saved her life.
This close shave with death ultimately led her to change the sporting direction of her life.
#4 She's already performed at Wrestlemania
For many NXT graduates, it takes almost a full year to get a sniff at appearing at Wrestlemania. Alexa Bliss has already been there and done that. At Wrestlemania 30, the female chosen ones of NXT were allowed the privilege of being a part of Triple H's stage entrance.
She with Charlotte & Sasha Banks, dressed up in shiny golden armour to accompany the King of Kings on stage. This was a clear indication that Bliss was destined for a big future before she'd even come up to the main roster. I'm sure when she performs at Wrestlemania 33 next year, the bright lights won't phase her one bit.
#3 She's played several sports
Alexa Bliss is a woman of many talents; she can do it all. She's actively been a bodybuilder, but as well as that she's played softball competitively, been part of a gymnastics squad, and she's been a dedicated cheerleader. As a teenager, she was a Division 1 member of the Step One All-Stars cheerleading team, the biggest cheerleading team in her state.
As if all that wasn't enough, she's also taken a lot of kickboxing training courses in the past too. She undertook this for fitness and self-defence purposes. But of course, this has helped legitimise her seamless transition into the wrestling business.
#2 She can sing, really well
Yes, we already know Alexa Bliss is a great performer in the ring, but what you don't know is that outside of the squared circle, she's just as talented. Her grandfather was a well-known country style instrumentalist, and this musical background has influenced the whole Bliss family.
Without the use of singing lessons, Alexa was able to develop her voice by herself to a great standard. Alexa, who was born in the state of Ohio, which is known for its Country music, has sung at several regional concerts in her state. Perhaps one day we'll see her singing the national anthem at a Tribute to the Troops or even a Wrestlemania.
#1 She used to be a bodybuilder
Her near-death experience led her to focus on putting on weight in a productive way. This is why she chose bodybuilding as a career path. She felt it would make her appreciate her own body more, plus it gave her more of a purpose to life.
Within a year of starting, she became a professional, even competing in the prestigious 'Arnold Sports Festival' tournament.
Despite being good enough to enter the competition, she never quite came close to winning it, however, she has gone on to say that bodybuilding allowed her to develop a strict mental discipline that she now applies to wrestling.
